Re: Where the heck is everyone?
What kind of law do you practice? I'm assuming there's different areas of specialization over there, like there is here.

Re: Where the heck is everyone?
There are very few laws in Greece - that's how they get away with smashing plates, ouzo and Nana Mouskouri.

Re: Where the heck is everyone?
That should make for some interesting Olympics. Will smashing plates be one of the events?

Re: Where the heck is everyone?
Civil law (mostly law of Commerce, in particular).
Rimmer, we have a very complex national law system here. Maybe the most complex in the whole EEC. Not to mention EEC's "federal" law system that applies here as well. So, no, this is not why we manage to get away with smashing plates and all. Generally speaking, our people do have a different "mentality" as far as dealing with everyday life is concerned. And we try to keep it that way. Maybe this different mentality which holds strong through eons, under the Greek everlasting sunshine, explains why philosophy, theater, poetry, science, Olympics etc originated from here...

Oh, well. You know how it goes. !@#$ happens everyday... Have you been to any European or American airport lately? Things are pretty much worse than that... I wonder, would a plane spotter telefocusing a RAF or USAF military Base have a different treatment than that, nowadays???

Re: Where the heck is everyone?
Yeah! I spose
English law is very complicated and lots of problems.
No.1 You have common law (law made by judges)
No.2 Statute law
No.3 EC law
No.4 We dont have no written constitution
No.5 We have problems with who is sovereign EU or UK. EU dicates its supreme while Uk Parliament says it is.
Its a complete mess. Needs Smack! & Jag to sort things out.
