I spent 4 hours in the airport there once...

It was very disappointing; apart from the pricing in the airport shops, I didn't see any gangster activity at all. emoticon

And, every 5 minutes they played a recorded message with a female voice that sounded like 'The Nanny', warning people not to leave their bags unattended. emoticon

Haha yea, they like to do that a lot in airports. And they ask you like 10 times if you ever left your bag unattended. I am always tempted to say this bag is not even mine, some strange looking guy paid me to take it and told me not to open it....I think it's full clocks, cause I hear a lot of ticking...

Not a great idea nowadays, of course. Even joking about bombs, drugs and guns at an airport can get you arrested, searched and charged.

Whilst talking about airport security; I once had a large, aggressive security guard with his hand on his pistol come over to see me at Los Angeles airport because I didn't open my briefcase after being asked three times by a check in attendant, Trouble was, I speak Australian and she spoke Deep South USA, with an Elvis mumble. She says to the guard, "Ah axed hum topen hissen bag and he just saying, 'What?'. Kaint axe hum plainer dan dat. Ahm pert'near shore he hidin somehat from me." The guard looks atr me, points to the briefcase and says, "Open it". I say, "Oh, that's what she wants".

So, I open the case. No problem. We all have a chuckle about the misunderstanding. Not.

The guard scowls and heads back to his post, the attendants rolls her eyes and sighs, and I slink off to the boarding area, wishing I was back in Sydney. emoticon

They should hire people that can actually speak clearly.

I once had a tennis racket and a nail file with me and they took those away. What did they think I would do? Get up in the middle of the flight and yell out "Ok people, I have a tennis racket and a nail file, I'm taking over this plane!"? O_o
