This is how native African porters used to call white people back in the 18nth century... It means "master" or something to that effect... Never watched any low bugdet movie (produced in 50's or 60's) about Africa ...exploration/exploitation before?

I think usually they spelled it "Bwana".. It means something like "Lord".
