Find one that you like and Upload it to a host and insert the link in your avatar spot in your control panel under Misc. Settings.

Find one you like, for example at www.planetsmilies.com
Save the image.
Make an account at a remote image host. I personally use www.villagephotos.com
Upload your avatar there, and copy the link.
Then paste the link in the appropriate text box in Misc. Settings in your Control Panel.
