Two questions...

Two questions for you gurus:

1) When I was initially creating my forum it asked me for a log-in name. I gave it one, thinking this would be an administrative login for making changes, but it's assigned me this name on the board and won't allow me to change it. I'd like myself to be identified differently on the board. How can I change this?

2) I had a user post a question yesterday, but I didn't have an answer for him. Got the answer today and went back to post a reply and his post was gone! I wasn't aware that posters could delete their own posts. In this particular case it's not very important, but for future reference, is there a way to prevent this? I wouldn't mind giving a poster a certain amount of time to edit or delete his post (say, an hour or two) but after that I'd prefer his message stuck to the board. How might I set this up?

Thanks!

Keith

Poster's can not delete their own postings but only edit. Do have mods or admins on your board? Ask one of them who may have done so accidently.

As for changing your name I don't think that is possible. You may need to register under the name you want but that is all I know.

Admin staff here may give a more definte answer to that.

I think that I went to your board (link), and there aren't any moderators. I don't know how it could happen that the post was deleted.

You can't change your username, only the caps. Say, if you were named SoMeThInG, you could change it to something or Something, whatever your heart desires, as long as it's the same letters the same places.

No, there are nobody else with any kind of control over the board but me. Oh well...I'll keep an eye on things and see if it happens again.

One more question: My forum is a Ford pickup group. I would like to require a profile of everyone who's registered to post. Just some basic info, like what kind of truck they drive and where they're from. I'd like their location to appear on the board with their login/posting name. Can I set this up?

Their location goes under their User Name (like yours is 'Nebraska').

If you want to have other info show up, it may be worthwhile getting them to put some details in their signatures (Control Panel>Misc Settings). Later on, there may be other options available to hold more profile data.
