I am an admin for the Australian Xtrail Forum and a member is having problems resetting their password.
They still have the original valid email address and when clicking the "reset password" link which shows as baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/lost_password, they get an email with a link which only takes them back to the same request a temporary password page.
Is this the correct link or should it be updated ?
I have checked and the same link is shown in the login page "reset password"
Maybe our member is not understanding the procedure correctly ?
Re: Password Reset not working Did your member follow through with all the instructions when he got to each place? I just went through the whole process, except the last step where I change my password, and it looks right to me. I used baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/lost_password to begin.
Re: Password Reset not working Thanks Susa, I'll do the same, going through the procedure until actually entering the password so that I can see what all the steps are and make sure they are following everything correctly.
...they get an email with a link which only takes them back to the same request a temporary password page.
Hi Kev,
If they are still having issues, please direct them to this post.
I tried this with a test account, and actually went through the whole process, including the part where I change my password, just to make sure there's not a bug somewhere.
Dear Australian X-Trail member,
After you submit your username on the lost_password page and receive the email, make sure you are clicking on this link where I have pixelated the parts that will be different for you:
This will log you in automatically, and you will see the message:
The link will take you to your control panel, where you should see the following options on the left side of the screen if you're on a desktop, or at the top of the page if you're using a phone:
Change my password
Registration information
Miscellaneous settings
Privacy settings
Mailing preferences
Edit bookmarks
Disable chat
Click on that first option, "Change my password". Then, type your desired password into each of the two input fields and click on "Submit info".
If you need more help and are unable to log into Runboard, please feel free to send a private message through our Facebook page, along with screen shots of what you are seeing. If you need help with getting the screenshots themselves, just ask over there, and I can help you with that. If you don't have a Facebook account, I can send Kev an email address that you can write to.
Re: Password Reset not working I put this video together, to help anyone who is having trouble getting their password reset. Ironically, I lost the password to the Runboarddotcom Youtube account, don't remember which email account I used to create that account, and am using a different computer these days, so I uploaded it to my own personal account.
