Re: Free credits for your board through user upgrade referral

Unfortuately I can't afford premium credits for my board. I would go broke. My board gets around five million page views a year emoticon

And a great board it is, too. (My months-ago post there still gets read a few times a week. Upon finding it, my first thought was "Great, a Metallica fan board." Then, "Damn, it's for chicks." emoticon emoticon)

My own board gets about half of your traffic, although I do pay for premium. And, it's true, at that level, the upgrade referral is just a small (but nice) bonus since it's only enough to keep a board premium for a day or two.

Ack, your PM box is full. Have you taken advantage of the new PM folders feature, yet?

Wow, what a very nice thing of you to say!

No, I haven't used the PM folders yet... I didn't know it would effect the amount of PMs allowed to be stored in the inbox. As of now, I've just accepted the inevitability that my PM box will always be full -- a couple of my e-buddies from the board use my PM box as if it were my own personal email address. So as soon as I empty it, a week later it's full. Now I get a bunch of email PMs.

As for premium credits, I would love to purchase them, if for no other reason than to support Runboard. However, I have reservations about changing how the board looks and functions, only to have it revert back in a couple of days. A lot of my board members are premium users and have started forums of their own on Runboard. And some of their forums are premium boards. The fact that users from my forum are choosing to upgrade their accounts and their own forums is something I'm proud of, because I'm helping to bring in some revenue for Runboard in return for providing a great free service.

Yes, according to Smack, although the fifty PM inbox limit remains, premium members now have a five hundred PM total limit (plus trash). So, just create more PM folders, and start moving some messages out of the inbox into those other folders.

Just checked today - since this feature went live, about 80% of premium user upgrades earned credits for their boards.

If a member wants to upgrade, they should see an upgrade link next to the inbox link at the top of the board

If one was to incorrectly use the "upgrade" link from their control panel instead of using the link provided by their preferred runboard forum, would that user then be able to request the 10000 credits be transferred to their preferred runboard forum by begging runboard admin? emoticon
