7) Nobel Prize Winner Who Correctly Predicted COVID-19 Trends Says ‘We’re Going To Be Fine’
According to a recently-published interview with the Los Angeles Times, Nobel laureate and Stanford biophysicist Michael Levitt has been “remarkably accurate” in predicting China’s recovery from the virus since he began researching the infection rates back in January.
Levitt, who won the 2013 prize for developing complex chemical models of calculation, says that as long as countries continue to practice safe self-isolation measures, the numbers show that they are already beginning to experience slow signs of improvement.
“What we need is to control the panic,” he told the news outlet. “We’re going to be fine.”
Re: Positive Updates on the COVID Outbreaks You are most welcome. Phalon started a COVID-19 thread on Whoosh, and this is one of the links she posted. I thought I'd share the good news ... and hope his predictions hold true. This has me hoping we can all get out again soon without fear. Maybe just a few more weeks. It would be nice if it was before May got here.
Re: Positive Updates on the COVID Outbreaks Hi everyone!
Hope all are well (and feeling well!). That was a good way to start the topic Jox; very nice to have all the good compiled into one story
As for us we've been doing our part staying home, except for the absolute necessities. It is nice to have more free time to read, exercise, etc. And of course to be online
This schoolyear started out a bit rockily, but it really became a nice year for me by October. I reunited with lots of old friends who I knew from my previous time living in Florida, and felt at home once again It's hard to have that interrupted abruptly, but we're all in it together, and I trust things will get better as we do our best to push through this.
2020 started out a bit rockily too, but...
Well, I have nothing for that one yet But hopefully at some point the year takes a turn for the better.
Stay safe everyone, I'll definitely be around here a lot more now.
Re: Positive Updates on the COVID Outbreaks I hope you are right. I think we're just starting up our circle peak ... and should know in a couple of weeks where on the scale we fit. Hopefully, we're on the flat side. Sadly, there are still people ignoring the requests to stay inside. Just saw on YouTube a news report of cops running off family members who gathered to celebrate a baby's first birthday. Family members got hostile with the cops, and said this wouldn't stop them from coming back. And who will they blame when they get the virus, and lose some family members to it?
My longtime friend Dr. Naji Abumrad, who’s been involved in research at Vanderbilt for many years, informed me that they were making some exciting advancements towards research of the coronavirus for a cure. I am making a donation of $1 million to Vanderbilt towards that research and to encourage people that can afford it to make donations.
