Site Not Secure

At the beginning of the year, when I tried to access our forum, it said that the site license had run out and it refused to allow access. There was a big red "Not Secure" in the middle of the page.

I still see this on Chrome and FireFox respectively:

One of our members has said that he also is having trouble accessing our page. He describes it as being "a mess".

I am not sure what to make of it. Please advise.

Re: Site Not Secure

Hi Spiko,

Your site (and Runboard as a whole) is completely secure. This notice refers only to the possibility of a site being dangerous, but (unfortunately) also can encompass safe sites like Runboard.

Are you still getting the notice? It was meant to be fixed today, but could be a difference in browsers or something. Which are you using? Thanks! emoticon

EDIT: Hi Lesa emoticon

Re: Site Not Secure

The "Not secure" message next to the address bar just means you're viewing Runboard through http rather than https.

When you saw the message that the site license had run out, that's because the SSL certificate had lapsed, and you were viewing through https rather than http. Thor renewed the SSL yesterday, so we can be pretty certain this issue won't occur again for at least another 364 days, give or take a day.

When your member wrote to you about Runboard being "a mess", was this more than 10 hours ago? After I saw Thor's message to me saying the SSL had been renewed, I checked https://runboard.com quickly on my way out the door, and it looked like the CSS wasn't displaying, but it was displaying for http://runboard.com, as well as for https://bakheva.runboard.com. However, it is working perfectly for me now.

Yes it was. It was about 12 hours ago. I asked him to post a screen cap of exactly what he was seeing. I will let you know if I get any more information.

That sounds promising then emoticon Hopefully/most likely will be good next time he tries to log-in.

It might have been the same thing I saw. If so, I would be surprised if he's still seeing the same thing now. It was basically all the words that appear on the home page while you're logged out, but without any styling. Just a bunch of black text plus links on a white background.

Oh right, I did get that after the main insecurity notice (albeit two days ago).

(I know I’m not the person in question here, sorry, just hoping it might help to add in someone else’s two cents emoticon )

Re:

I made a post to compare time stamps and his last complaint was over 14 hours ago. We may be OK now.

Thank you! emoticon

You're welcome, Spike! I'm just sorry for any inconvenience the lapsed SSL might have caused.
