Click-it Skin Adoption
Many people don't like coding, but they want an excellent looking site when messaging.
I believe it would be super cool if there were an "adoption button" which would copy a runboard skins coding over to another message board.
The feature could be set up and promoted as a premium feature and would allow a user to scroll through the skins list to find the look they want. Once they saw the look they desire, they could click on the button and Runboard would ask for the URL of their message board and their user password. If both of the requested items were valid, then Runboard would copy all of the skins settings over to their board the same way we do things by copying and pasting the settings now. The big difference is the user would not have to learn about how to use the control panel to adopt a beautiful looking design for their site.

Re: Click-it Skin Adoption
Cool idea. Instead of having to copy/paste the codes, they just click the skin/theme button. Sweet.

Re: Click-it Skin Adoption
I think it's an excellent idea, but we would need to protect those who create their own skins from scratch and don't want others to use it. For this reason, any time someone creates a custom skin, this option needs to be turned off by default, with a checkbox on one of the customization pages (the CSS?) that asks the board owner if they would like to contribute their skin for other boards to use.
When a board owner/admin uses this option to use someone else's skin, the board where it is used could contain a copyright notice in the footer, "(name of skin) skin created by (username). If you would like to use this skin on your own Runboard, click here. The "click here" link would explain how to put it on their board, and (username) could be a link to the skin creator's Runboard profile.
When the skin creator checks the box to share their skin, a message could pop up, asking for the name of the skin, and explaining what the copyright notice will say, where it will be displayed (in board footers), and perhaps ask if they want credit for it and whether they want this credit to be a link to their profile.
Now, when a board owner/admin uses the "Click to use this skin" option to add someone else's skin to their own board, the option to share it with other boards should be enabled by default (and unable to be disabled), and the copyright message displayed in their board's footer.
If we ever add a feature like this, our "Skins" forum here at RSF would need to change, of course. Instead of posting codes, we would simply post a link to the board where the skin is in place, and explain how the feature works. Of course, the skin creator would need to check the box to turn the sharing option on before others can use it.

Re: Click-it Skin Adoption
The CSS area is under the ECL form which requires a second click, I feel the best place for the checkbox would be the ECL page for this reason. Make it an additional entry link to the "copy settings" listings.
The "copyright notice" could use the second "bottominfoline" which is currently blank by default.
I would like the "skin adoption" list to be more than a list of links. Perhaps something similar to our current "skins list" with thumbnails of the skin to aid a user in choosing what they want to use on their board.

Re: Click-it Skin Adoption
My reason for thinking about putting the checkbox on the CSS page is because any good skin creator will visit that page while designing their skin.
I misread your original post, and was thinking the button would be on the board that contained the skin, and the listings here would only have thumbnails and links to those skin boards, and perhaps a description.
