We've watched this twice and will be buying the DVD when it comes out. It's just a fantastic documentary about Four cowboys (friends just out of college)who ride 16 Mustangs 3,000 miles through the wildest terrain in the American West, from Mexico, to Canada... to inspire conservation efforts and prove the worth of 50,000 wild horses and burros living in holding pens.
It is funny, scary, hard, touching, sometimes beyond belief...and scenery that some have never seen before...STUNNING...and then there are the horses...amazing!
Here is the TRAILER...
The GENTLEMAN in the beginning who is giving his "wisdom" is Val Geissler, and he has a song in the movie called "Border to Border"..I fell in love with the old "cowboy" music and wrote to him, asking him where I could purchase that song. He wrote back, and said I could have one of his CD's....I could send him $19.99 or not...as I was now his friend.
After I got the CD and listened to it...I was so in love with all the songs, so I sent him $22.00 to cover the CD and shipping and handling...♥
MY CD...

Re: unBRANDED documentary That is so cool for him to autograph the CD even though he had no idea if you would actually purchase it when given the option to get it for free.
Re: unBRANDED documentary Oh and it's getting better and better...
I just got a letter back from him today, saying how nice my letter was...and letting me know what the next few weeks are going to be like....AND....WAIT FOR IT...he's going to be in MY AREA after Thanksgiving and wanted TO GET TOGETHER...him and his wife, with me and Hubby...for a few minutes as they passed through on their way back to Cody, WY..
OF COURSE I SENT HIM MY NUMBER AND SAID...YES CALL ME WHEN YOU LEAVE BOISE!!
Here is his letter...
I'm doing a very, very happy dance now!
In case you can't read his chicken scratch...(I'm used to reading my son's horrible handwriting.)
Hey Elizabeth,
got your very kind letter today.
I sure am glad you enjoyed the CD.
I am off to the film festival in Banf,
Canada tomorrow and back next week.
then a premire here in Cody (2 showings)
Nov.19th and then off to Portland for
Thanksgiving with my daughter & Grandkids.
I am not sure what day we'll leave
there put we plan to spend a night
in Boise with another daughter on the
way home. We'll (Cindy & I) be close to
Payette maybe. If your close I'd love
to stop for a minute & say hi.
Let me know if thats a possibility
on your part.
O.K. Take care my friend.

Looks like a great movie. I may not be able to bear to watch it... I'll see.
Why would you have a hard time watching it?

Re: unBRANDED documentary Wow, wow, wow, that's totally awesome!!! You simply MUST meet!
I'm not sure I can bear to watch it, because I follow quite a few mustang pages. And they recently showed a pic of a well-known band stallion from an area who was rounded up and sold and gelded, and is now living in captivity without his family.
Re: unBRANDED documentary Brian...steal away, I borrowed them all off the internet over the last 8 years!
FIRLE...it does have a couple of sad moments, but I'd say 98% of the movie is really great! I mean the scenery alone will take your breath away, then the story of the 4 collage age cowboys..it's life changing for them.
Then add in the controversy between the BLM and the wild mustang groups and private ranchers...it's a fascinating look into that world...
AFTER that horrible SODA FIRE we had here last Summer, the BLM has to bring in the Mustangs that we have and they have to live in the holding yards for YEARS.. They are just now able to get in and start to reseed the 280,000 Acres..
Re: unBRANDED documentary Well we GOT TO MEET VAL and his WIFE CINDY!
THIS WAS MY FACEBOOK POST FROM LAST NIGHT:
OH MY GOODNESS!! HUBBY and I just had the most wonderful meal we've ever had at Denny's. The singer/songwriter, actor, from the movie, unBranded, Val Geissler and his wife, Cindy were on their way from Portland to Home, Via Boise...and after being in touch with them about buying a CD of his music, and him sending me a SIGNED copy....they decided they would be close enough to stop for a bite to eat.
They are the most down to Earth, unassuming, kind, funny, smart wonderful people. I could have listened to his stories and their conversation all night. Such REAL people....full of joy and life!
I AM walking on cloud nine, and probably will be for a long while to come.

Love this line from the article about Val....it is so true!
****Within five minutes of meeting Val, there is a 90% chance that he calls you pard, has sang you a song, poured you a cup of coffee, and has stolen the heart of every female within listening distance! He's the most fascinating man I've ever met.*****
Sorry the photos are a bit fuzzy...we were all giggling so hard it was impossible to keep still....and we were giggling because of the FIRST photo! Totally unexpected...
