Re: Giving Notice...
Wishing you the very best OldWarrior!
FIRLE...would you believe here, when hubby and I first got married, he was in the United States Navy, and was NOT making enough to have a tiny apartment, one used car and one used motorcycle and pay our utilities.
I worked as a motel maid or on an assembly line and that only helped a wee bit.
I also stood in line twice a month for "government goods"...cheese, butter, and flour.
When the government stopped that...hubby WHEN HE WAS NOT OUT TO SEA...worked the Navy job on ship from 6am to 3pm. Then went to the Navy Calibrations lab...and worked from 4pm to 8pm...then worked as a bartender from 10pm to 1am...and slept from 1:30am to 5:30am. And he did that for the first 3 years we lived in California where his ship was stationed.
California is just too expensive to live....later on when we got transferred back, he had gained enough ranking that our pay and my pay helped.

Re: Giving Notice...
Queeny: That's horrible. And it is totally not acceptable, if you ask me. Kudos to you for managing, but people should not be *punished" for joining the Army or Navy.

Thanks, everyone for well wishes.
The interview went almost as well as expected, but they might decide against me since I need more hours and they will be afraid of wasting time and money on my training.
I got my hopes up too high it seems. I might still get the job, but it is fewer hours than anticipated and there is little or no tolerance for sickness, since it is for a reserve driver position. They are supposed to let me know in a week or two.
In the meantime, I shall pursue what seems less desirable work but probably more hours starting out.

Re: Giving Notice...
If your luck is anything like mine lately, you'll go from having nothing to having a regular job plus several different freelancing jobs at once. Keep at it, and you might be surprised.

Re: Giving Notice...
Well, while getting supplies at a hardware store to install a window a/c unit into a hole in the wall, I noticed the hardware is hiring for customer service sales associate -- fulltime with benefits.
I will definitely be applying there since I have always wanted to work in a hardware store and once I DID work in a paint store for about 1 & 3/4 years and loved it.
By the way, the a/c unit has brought the living room temperature down by about 4 degrees F in probably less than an hour. It is trying to cool five rooms and one and one-half bathrooms! That unit gets very good reviews. I think some said that it keeps an entire floor of their house cool. We shall see.
