Re: Pay-features: going live today
There seems to be no numbers missing there except the 1.

Re: Pay-features: going live today
How do premium users give certain boards the special features? Can they switch the features from board to board? What if they sold the board, would it keep the features? Thanks.

Re: Pay-features: going live today
Board-wide premium service has not begun yet. Buying services for entire boards are expected to begin in about a month I believe.

Re: Pay-features: going live today
Exactly, except it can be a month or more.
Apparently the company providing the phone number service have some problems and it's not working fine. At least, noone have spent a penny, since no calls have been possible.

Re: Pay-features: going live today
So with this pay feature i will start receiving pop ups an advertisements and such like. Very dissapointed about this its not looking good for the future of my forum which i thought was sorted. So when and what is likely to happen to the basic accounts? I don't want to have to move my forum again.

Re: Pay-features: going live today
I think I have said enough times that there are no plans to serve popups at akheva.
Let me restate it again, there are no plans to serve popups at akheva.
Got it?

Re: Pay-features: going live today
Why was this discrimination between basic and premium users started? Are you in need of money?
I'm worried for the future. This premium thing should never have happened.

Re: Pay-features: going live today
Is he in need of money? Are you joking? This service costs him money to provide to everyone. Thor is a nice guy but I think hes entitled to make a living. I dont think the differences between the two have been made clear enough for you guys, because at this stage of the game atleast, I see nothing to be upset about. If you cant afford it, dont get it. You still have youre forums and there are no plans for popups. When Delphi went pay, they took away the ability to run a forum from those who dont pay. When Ezboard went pay they made it damn near intollerable to visit free boards. Things like optional invisibility and more favorites are nothing to get in an uproar over. There is nothing unusable about the basic accounts.

Re: Pay-features: going live today
Benoit,
I understand that you are worried that there is now an option to pay, but let me clear something up for you.
Every click you make on any web site on the net, costs that web site some money. A very small amount per click, but still some. Costs are bandwidth, hosting, electricity, servers, man-hours, software, etc.
Many web sites are free because people who run them just pay the costs, or use a company's resources to run it.
Premium accounts are there for that reason - help me pay what it takes to keep akheva running 24/24 7/7 in the best conditions. Of course, I'd like to make an extra out of it, but I'm as far from making an extra out of it as, say, Switzerland from invading the United States.
If you feel that having an option to pay is not providing a good enough service for you, I suggest you look at other web servers who provide forum hosting, such as ezboard.com.
