Re: Double posts?

Two things. It will disable but then re-appears when I try writing a new response to that same post and feel like the eternal cycle.

This may be a clue: When I try to post a response on my message that started this inquiry, I see red letters cautioning me that I cannot exceed 100 characters. That returns me to my hunch about the chat thingee.

Sorry but this is the was a 67 yo retired drummer speaks. emoticon

Re: Double posts?

Adius, is this the message you saw in red?

quote:

subject: Maximum valid length is 100

This is normal, and not related to the double-post or chat issues. The "Well nuts" topic has about 100 characters in the subject line. When you try to reply, it adds "Re:", which will push the subject line in your reply over the subject line's maximum character limit if you don't remove part of it.

As for the chat feature, I wonder if it would help for you to delete your Runboard cookies, then log back in and re-disable chat. It's a cookie that remembers whether you want chat enabled or disabled, so I hope that deleting your cookie and resetting this preference will resolve that issue.

@Queeny - Thanks. emoticon

Edit: spelling mistake

And I am older than Queeny and could never have gotten along without Lesa. I was way more dumb when I started than I am now.

I can but it doesn't stay disabled. If I hit the send button and it doesn't send, then it's back along with the drfat message. I did figure out part of that problem. If I had listened to my mother and read the stuff in front of me I could have save myself some angst. The subject was long. When I hit a reply it put a "re" in front of the subject title...or, I might have...taking the subject over the 100 character limit. That is why I couldn't post. But it doesn't get to the double posts. I'll cool my jets for a while and see if a layoff from posting works. When in doubt, re-boot. Thanks so much for your time.

Re: Double posts?

Hi Adius,

Are you saying you already tried deleting your cookies?

I'm not sure a reboot would help something like this, but it can't hurt to try. I'm not very familiar with Macs, but maybe you could try deleting cookies and temp files before rebooting.

You're welcome for the attempts to help. I just wish I could be more helpful, and hope we can sort this out. I guess if worse comes to worst, you could try using a different browser, and see if that makes a difference.

@Susa - Thanks. emoticon

Had some difficulty with that but found that it was operator error - that is a gentle was of saying it was me. THe message I was responding to had a long title. Either I added to it or it automatically ads a "Re." That was just enough to throw it over the 100 character limit. The announcement was right on the post in red letters and I missed it...doh. So, after that was adjusted, posting was easy. But that doesn't explain the double post gremlin. I'm taking a break fro posting for a while hoping for spontaneous remission.

Thanks again for your help.
