'Lite' Skins?

When I first really got into skinning, I had made some skins, that had little to no images on them, and called them 'lite skins'. The original idea for making them, was to make the board's load time faster for Dial-up users.. but since I've started putting most of the images in the CSS, the load time on the skins are a little bit faster anyway.. so I pretty much gave up on the 'lite' skins..

But I was wondering if anyone would still be interested in having one.. I'm a lot better with the coding, than image making anyway.. so I can still make a pretty decent image - free skin... What brought this question on, is well I was making a Test Board to try to understand something a little better, then I started adding different styles of borders, and adding colors where I usually don't put them, and classes that aren't normally on my standard sidebar skins... and well It does have a lot of background image css in it.. but I could make something similar, without images.. if anyone is interested.. lol.

I don't see why not. A lot of people are no good at making images, so they might like to see some layouts where they are free to change colors without having to change images.

Of course, they are free to remove images from existing skins anyway, but a lot of people probably don't realize that's even an option, or they'll leave the image-related code in there when they do take the images out. By having image-less skins to begin with, people may feel free to experiment more, and their CSS will be cleaner, as well.

I agree, people might find some image-less skins easier to edit, since most of the skins just have an image background, and no color set, they might not realize what it is, or that they can replace the image with a color of their choice.

Now the question what colors should i start with? emoticon .. I could make some 'lite' versions of skins I've already created.. or just jump into a whole new color scheme lol.. sometimes I think me liking darker colors more is a curse emoticon

JJ,

I been looking for something like what you want to do here, my board is just plain old drabby, was looking for something to pick it up a little without going to far out, know what I'm saying here? lol, something around the edges would be kool not to take away the board so an old guy like myself can still see it with no problem. those lines on your test board are too hard on my eyes lol, but yet keep the youngin's feel they are wanted too. any ideas would be great.

Thanks BigB. Those lines do make posts a bit hard to read don't they? lol.. I had just put them on the test board, to see how they looked.. and haven't removed them.

This is the first 'Lite' skin I am working on http://www.runboard.com/blackblood It may be too dark for some people.. but I am always open to color suggestions, for up and coming skins..
