Re: INVITING SOMEONE TO BE A MEMBER
There really isn't a single button Honey424.
Control Panel
::
Board management
::
Security management
::
Advanced security settings
Scroll down to .......
Fine Tune the (Forum that is set to invite only) & Select that forum
Click on See Members
Scroll to bottom and add users name in manually
Click Add a User
You just invited them!
Only members you add to the membership of that forum are invited to partake of its contents.

Re: INVITING SOMEONE TO BE A MEMBER
I just managed to add someone as an invited global member to my board by following the above steps. I typed in the name and clicked "add a user" and the name shown up on the members list. But I wonder since only a name (without other info like email address, username, passwords...etc.) was typed in, how could that person knows and be able to use the forum just like any other members? Please help.
P.S. My board membership rule has been set as "by invitation only". How am I to invite membership?

There is no specific invite message steandric, just the above. The invitation comes from your adding their names to allow access. Alternatives are keeping a forum open that Runboard members can leave a message at requesting membership to your board, posting a read only message for Runboard members to contact you via a PM or changing the security to password access and granting access to specific forums while the rest are open.
Once any of these are used then a follow up PM with details can be sent in return to the members by yourself or another Admin.

Re:
After 7 years as a Runboard member I had to come to support and look for this because I have never had a "invite only" board until now. IMHO there really should be a "invite members" button in the control panel...

Re: INVITING SOMEONE TO BE A MEMBER
Ya know...you are right.
But since I'll probably never have an invite only board....I'm not going to worry about it. I'll let you worry.

Re: Inviting someone to be a member
"Invitation" might be a bit of a misnomer here, since you're really just adding someone to a member list. Instead of saying "Invite-only membership" as the membership gaining method, maybe that wording should be changed to, "Add members manually."
It might still be nice to have an automated way to let people know they've been added to a member list manually, though, just as people are notified when their application has been accepted or denied.

Re: Inviting someone to be a member
I posted a message to let those invited know they were members over in another board that I knew they all frequented but I don't see that as a normal "good policy" to follow...

I agree, but what do you think of my suggestion?

I like the automated announcement system idea. It makes a lot of "intuitive sense."
