Java Applets ~ Warning

I am not savvy with Java applets. I visited http://com4.runboard.com/bsteppingstones
and was asked whether I wanted to download some Untrusted thingy-ma-bob.

1. Are these ok on Runboard
2. Should you ever accept these in general when untrusted?

They are not fine, and they will all go soon, when javascript, java and flash are all disabled for boards.

I think that particular one has to do with the chatroom he used - might not have even been on purpose.

Yeap. I bet the board's owner doen't mean any harm, but how one knows that the applet (ie. EXE code) he's got for the job is safe? Do we know for sure where they got it from? That's the problem...
