Posting Is Out Of Alignment

Hi, I am still having problems with my forum being out of line.

There are 'No' large pictures to put it out of line as I have deleted all these, but I do keep getting through all my postings this from all members:

/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/

or /love19gif/> etc,

running continuously, etc, although 'No' posticon have been included.

See under "New Dog Owners" topic and scroll through and across the topic "Taking on six month old rescue dog" to see what I mean.

I have tried deleting topics, editing, but nothing is putting my forum back in line.

Can anyone help, as I do not wnat to have to scrap my entire forum content, but at the moment it looks a right mess...

My forum address is:

http://com3.runboard.com/bcanineangelsforum

Thanks in advance.
Angela.

They are trying to insert an image, in what looks like a perl script...

All they need to do is:

[*img]URL[*/img] Just with out the *'s. Any more links to the topics out of line?

Edit: Your old thread should explain it: http://com1.runboard.com/bakheva.fmainchat.t633

Hi Jaq,

I can see what you are saying, but this is 'Not' working. When I go into edit someone elses to put this right, the person posting has not always added an icon or image! I have tried this also on my own postings, but still get alien text appear actually on the forum.

For example: when I go into “Edit”, this is what I get:

(See Under) "New Dog Owners" topic and scroll through and across the topic "Taking on six month old rescue dog" and scroll down to posting number 7 from alexis. Her posting when I go into “Edit” looks like this:-

"She was a lovely pup with a rather flat coat looking head but sadly too big for our home situation. However there was a JRT there earmarked for another lady and we've 'swapped' as Bella was a better match for her so I'm now owned by Twiglet a white bodied JRT with black ears/eyes/nose.

However, on the forum it comes out as this:-

She was a lovely pup with a rather flat coat looking head but /1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />ly too big for our home situation. However there was a JRT there earmarked for another lady and we've 'swapped' as Bella was a better match for her so I'm now owned by Twiglet a white bodied JRT with black ears/eyes/nose.

This is also happening under my own postings and I know I am adding the images correctly to how I have always posted them, but the same thing happens – the post is entered even without an image or icon, but still these alien type text rows appear…

Another example: (General Dog Chat – Topic – Christmas Cheer By Andrea, Wetnose Campaign)

(As Seen On Forum) - I love waking up on Christmas morning and seeing my children all excited about their presents and Aunts and Uncles coming over and fun is had by all. But then I look at my own cats and dogs and see how happy they are with their little Turkey dinners and new scratching posts, and with a tinge of /1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />/1/sad49.gif" />ness I think of all the poor cats and dogs and horses not with any owners to give them little Turkey dinners or goodies to eat.

(As seen from the Edit page) - I love waking up on Christmas morning and seeing my children all excited about their presents and Aunts and Uncles coming over and fun is had by all. But then I look at my own cats and dogs and see how happy they are with their little Turkey dinners and new scratching posts, and with a tinge of sadness I think of all the poor cats and dogs and horses not with any owners to give them little Turkey dinners or goodies to eat.

As you can see, this has no image or icon present, but the alien text still appears?

Sorry this posting is so long, but this is becoming a real problem. Any other ideas?

As you can see, it is pushing the forum out of line...

Thanks Angela.

It's always is on a word that starts with "sad".

Is there any coding you have that automatically inserts a picture on "sad"?

CSS with html or pure html? Sorry, I'm swimming a bit, but I can see that it is a real problem.

This

"She was a lovely pup with a rather flat coat looking head but < *img alt="posticon" *src="http://www.planetsmilies.com/smilies/< *img alt="posticon *src="http://www.planetsmilies.com/smilies/"

is part of what the html source of that post shows (except for the stars which hopefully stop this from messing up my post). Now, as you can see this is exactly the wrong way to insert a picture. I'm sorry, but no matter how much Alexis denies inserting a picture, this is one. html code does not work in posts, in fact, it screws them up.

Another question: which browser do you use? Some ignore html when it is not allowed and don't even show it - which could explain why you don't see it when you try to edit the post.

Try Mozilla or Netscape 4.7 for editing - or make me a mod for tonight and let me look at it.

In any case this is html with a missing closing *> that is messing up the post.

What do you think?

Hi Firlefanz,

I have made you a moderator and would really appreciate your help in this. Computer jargon is still new too me, so I am really finding this difficult to work out.

I'm not sure what you mean by browser. I use broadband (bt.yahoo?)

I'm off line now until tomorrow morning, but many thanks for taking the time to help.

Angela

If you have an error in your posticon setup, making her a moderator will not help. She cant see your posticon setup as a mod.

Did you use SAD in your posticons?

This is why youre advised to use a : before a posticon shortcut.

Now I cant go in and fix your problem but the word SAD clearly activates a smiley that has been inputed incorrectly. All you have to do is supply the URL when setting up posticons, do not put in HTML.

Re: Urgent Help Required...

Spouzic, you beat me to it, it is a clickicon. The problem is actually twofold.

First, there is indeed a clickicon with the name "sad". However, that alone would only supply the smilie inside the text, as the setup is exactly the same as with the other smilies. There is another mistake at work:

Second, that "sad" also appears in the link, so Angela got a link inside a link inside a link... which screwed everything up even worse. It only stopped because Thor specified a max. number of repeats, I think.

Of course as mod I can't change it, but I have never learned to put up smilies anyway.
