Board Management Warning Button in thread

On a few other NON RUNBOARD places I have been too I've seen A Warning option button that you could click To warn Admins/mods of a the board that Someone is Spamming/flamming/ Breaking the rules. I guess when The warn button is Clicked It alerts the management of the exact thread the Threat/problem is in.. I was wondering if this option could be available here? I know some Smaller boards may not Need this But I know of a few Larger boards that this option would be really useful in.

No. They have not made that. Maybe sometime in the near future they could make one, because, Joshin Josh and I might need it. Especially me for how quick my board is growing.

Here, you can always pm an admin or send him or her an email.

Some people are too lazy to do that. You have to talk to a staff member about that. They probably could, but it would take a lot of work, because of possible bugs.

Huh? What bugs?

You could open the pm form, copy/paste the link to the topic and send it off. Very little difference to an automatic button, and much better interaction with the admin.

You see, I believe in communication. Not in buttons. emoticon

Seriously, can you imagine the work load you'd get as admin, when every little fight results in a flame alarm? I can see why the idea appeals to people, but I don't think it's viable. A board lives through its members, and the atmosphere that the admins and mods create. Such a button would make the whole board less personal. Frankly, I wouldn't even want it for my board.

I see your point there.. I was only suggesting it and have nothing to do with what Caw is talking about.

Huh? About the bugs, each time[mostly] the staff members add something, they get bugs. Am I correct?

Not really. Most stuff that has been added works pretty well - you probably don't even notice it just because it doesn't create bugs. emoticon

At any rate, there are no bugs in the pm or email system. Adding a simple button would probably not cause any bugs, either. I simply doubt the wisdom of it, but as it's a request, it will be noted.

On a related note, I've been thinking it would be nice to be able to create a forum where members could securely, privately post about problems for all the moderators to see and respond to.

I tried creating a forum with USENET-style moderation. This mostly works. Board members could then create new topics to report problems, and those new topics are automatically hidden. Problem is that the last post column in the forum list shows that a post to that forum has been made, even if hidden. If the code could be patched to not update the forum last post time for hidden topics, this would work. (I know I can visually hide the last post time for a particular forum, but it would still be there for people who know how to view the source of a web page.)

I also tried creating a forum with write-access enabled but read-access disabled. But this doesn't work because you can still see a recap of the last few posts in each topic below the post composition area.

So, the only private way to report a problem to all moderators I can think of currently is to create a board-mods account for a board with its email address set to an alias that goes to all moderators (requires knowing the real email addresses of all moderators).

CCWF, I like your ideas and shame they don't work, hoever, the last suggestion of know other admin or mods email address is not always possible so I doubt it will work.

Lucky for me I know such information for each of my members, if I was very deserparte that is emoticon
