Viewing members e-mail addresses
I find it frustrating that I cannot view their e-mail addresses, that I have to send them a PM message to their e-mail. It would be great to have access to them, even if it's just for the administrator. Also, passwords would be good too.

I too think this would be a great feature and useful addition.

Re: Viewing members e-mail addresses
I would not like that at all!
I already get enough junk-mail, and I am very glad Runboard hides email adresses from everyone's eyes.
I firmly believe that the email /pm system is very good and serves all needs. Even if someone refuses to accept those, you can leave a message at their board.

Re: Viewing members e-mail addresses
I think admins could use a form somewhere in their control panel to email all their members without knowing the email addresses. Other than that, you will never have access to passwords because a membership to runboard is not exclusive to YOUR board.

Re: Viewing members e-mail addresses
I think it would be great if only the admin could have access to their e-mail addresses. I'm about to run a contest and I want to confirm that the people from my board are entering, so I wanted to check with their e-mail addys. I can't now since there isn't an option to see them

Re: Viewing members e-mail addresses
Well, on one board I am on, we have a serious project, and we were required to list our email adresses in order to be reachable. However, that was in a restricted forum, and so I could agree easily.
Why would you need to check your member's email for running a contest? You could post a question in a restricted forum where only they have access, and have them give the answer in their mail. Sort of like a password system.
Spouzic, I really like your idea of an all-member-email form for admins or even owners only.

Re: Viewing members e-mail addresses
I like your idea too spouzic.
Sending a message to all your members concerning announcments, news and so on without the admin(s) finding out their emails. This would be useful for many boards.

I would have to agree in part for a board owner NOT to having immediate open access to real email addresses. It's too easy for a spammer to join and create a board and abuse members joining to create mailing lists.
Just because a board owner is privledged to control their site, the members should have a little protection, too.
If there is a contest and a board owner requires mailing address to control the contest for the entrants, that's one thing because few will actually participate, but to openly have access, should be carefully weighed in my opinion.

Re: Viewing members e-mail addresses
Has anything changed?? These posts were made in 2004.
I am running an offer on my board which means every member needed to be contacted with the information.
I had to contact them 1 by 1. What an incredible waste of my time. I'm hoping that in the past 5 years a method of a group/mass email, without exposing a members email address, has been developed.
Please tell me that in 5 years such a simple option has been programmed into Runboard.

Re: Viewing members e-mail addresses
E-Mail addresses will never be made public by Runboard itself as this would violate the Runboard Privacy Policy. You can add a mailing list to your board using 3rd party add-ons such as
Aardvark and
Bravenet.
