I think I would too
Before I made my board, I was a memeber of another board that had this feature, and it never seemed to be a problem. As a matter of act, it came in quite handy. Many times someone will rethink what they said as soon as they see it in print, and this let you have the option to get it outta there before its seen or flamed. JMO

Re: Being able to delete ones own posts
I have to agree. "Delete your own post" feature is just a simple, common, convienance that most boards have. I have never encountered any problems on any boards with it.

Re: Being able to delete ones own posts
some boards have problems with it in that users delete their post half way through after saying something. And with no trace of the post left the topic didnt make sense and could be easily taken out of context.
The only way I know of to prevent problems is for a delete button to clear the text but add <post deleted by user> instead.

Re: Being able to delete ones own posts
As every user can edit their own posts, it's very easy to delete the original text and put in exactly what Smack suggested.

On some other boards, deleting your own posts reduces your post count accordingly.
