posticon Expiration of inactive boards

Boards that are evaluated by the system as inactive (see below) are now being deleted at slow pace.

A board that has been scheduled for deletion will bear a visible message about it for one month, and then become deletable.

For the system to evaluate a board as inactive and schedule it for future deletion, the traffic on that board must have have been close to null for 6 months, and receive no new posts during during this period.

Premium boards don't get deleted in any case (however, a premium board that is out of premium credits becomes a regular board and everything that applies to a regular board applies to it, including expiration).

If you have a board that has been flagged for deletion, as I said above, you have 1 month before it CAN be deleted (it might actually GET delete even later). During this period, if you feel that your board still has some use for anyone, despite the inactivity, feel free to send me a PM about it (the message on your board will include instructions), and the expiration flag may be removed from your board.

Feel free to ask questions if something is unclear.

Re: Expiration of inactive boards

if the site becomes active again, will it automatically be unflagged or does someone have to be contacted?

I own a backup board for the jedi enclave that I have in case of emergencies (ie - deleted, hacked, etc.) is there a way we can mark these types of sites as exempt for security reasons?

A board that has been flagged as inactive will not be automatically unflagged if it receives traffic.

A very visible and clear message with instructions for unflagging will be shown to every user of the board.

That is so that we are wasting room for Runboard to thrive. The more unused boards, the more crammed it will be.

Runboard isn't crammed. Extra servers are added regularly as we grow.

But, we want to maximise overall board speed. That's why unused boards get cleaned off after a while.

Update: board administrators can now clear the inactivity flag themselves in the board's control panel.

What makes you think that Runboard deleted Starchoice IRB?
