Re: Positive Updates on the COVID Outbreaks

Yeah. I read somewhere that some seem to think that blood type has something to do with it. *shrugs* They're saying those with type O do better ... but I didn't research to see if that was true. I'd also seen a video where the guy claimed the elderly are more susceptible to viruses because their stomach can't fight it off due to lack of Vitamin C, E, and a few more I don't recall. But he was also selling products for the elderly to take to replenish what they've lost due to age ... so who knows if there is a little bit of truth in what he said. (I had been taking Vitamin C a few times during this when some said to eat plenty of fruit ... so some of what he says might be fact. *shrugs*)

This is both good and bad news. This should be the worst week, and then things will slowly start to improve. Of course that will depend on social distancing. We won't be out of the woods for a long while ... so we won't be able to just jump back in to normal routines. Not until a cure/vaccine is found.

The reason the elderly are more susceptible is because they have fewer white blood cells. It has nothing to do with the stomach, and everything to do with the immune system.

Fewer white blood cells means a weaker immune system, which isn't limited to the elderly, but it is a common condition among the elderly.

Several countries are starting to see a downhill curve in the number of daily new cases. Sadly, other countries are just getting started, because they haven't learned from the countries that have either taken big hits, or have taken proper measures to avoid those big hits. Social distancing does work. As much as it sucks to be isolated, the more we isolate ourselves now, the fewer deaths will result before a vaccine can be developed.

These measures are temporary, but death is permanent. We are all in this together. Let's kick this thing's butt.

I took a look at the Spanish Flu, and it lasted two years because some mingled when things were looking up, and started it all over again ... or that's the info I found on it.
