Re: OK... Where did my skins go?
It seems to be the image website that's down.
quote:
https://postimages.org/
postimg.ORG domain is locked by Registry, no prior notice.
While we hope to resolve the issue, we chose postimg.CC as our new home.
Please update codes embedded in your websites.
You might want to wait and see if they've been hacked. *shrugs*

Re:
Here is a link to the site, with a sort of explanation: https://postimages.org/
Also, I hate to tell you this, but using images from Postimage is against Runboard's terms of service.

Re: OK... Where did my skins go?
That website is also on the "don't use" list:
quote:
http://bakheva.runboard.com/t8738#post262333
Links to the following image hosts are not allowed, as their websites contain ads and/or other content which violate the Runboard Terms of Service.
imagevenue.com
hotchyx.com
imagebam.com
imageporter.com
messyshare.com
fastpic.ru
stooorage.com
imgbox.com
nudeimagehost.com
postimage.org/postimg.org
someimage.com/
The following sites no longer have a free option for users that allows "hotlinking" or "3rd party image hosting."
photobucket.com
imgur.com

Re: OK... Where did my skins go?
Here is the list you're allowed to use:
quote:
http://bakheva.runboard.com/t8738
Runboard does NOT offer hosting of images, so here is a list of third party providers of free image hosting.
Site..............Bandwidth Limit..........Max Size..........Allowed Filetypes
TinyPic.com..........10GB/Mth.............. 5MB..........jpg/.gif/.bmp/.png
Abload.de..............None...............10MB P/A.........Images & Files
MediaFire.com..........None.................10GB P/A.......images & files
Cubeupload.com--......None.................5MB......jpeg, .jpg, .png, .gif, .pdf, .bmp
P/A = Per Account
MB = Megabyte
GB = Gigabyte
Mth = Month
*Other restrictions may apply
*Note: some of these are more reliable than others.
*All subject to change.
If you have discovered any other FREE image hosts supporting hotlinking then please share them.
(New ones and/or sites that may be used)
http://www.ephotobay.com/ - 150kb max img size not affected by bandwidth limits.
http://gifyu.com - 100mb max

Re: OK... Where did my skins go?
quote: postimg.ORG domain is locked by Registry, no prior notice.
Their registrar is eNom, which states:
quote: 5. Conduct and Content.
... Customer will not use the Services in such a way as to distribute, link-to, transmit or solicit any content of any type that: ... (b) is obscene, harmful to minors, pornographic ...
eNom Acceptable Use Policy
The reason we haven't allowed postimg/postimage/postimages and other image hosts we have on our disallowed list is because the code they provide for posting images on message boards results in a clickable link to their site, which often (not always, but often) shows pornographic ads.
I can't say with any certainty that it was the pornographic ads that caused them to be shut down, but I do think this is one possibility. I think it is also possible that some of those ads might have contained viruses, which is also (rightfully) against eNom's Acceptable Use Policy. Although I don't know if any of their ads contained viruses or not, this seems to be common with a lot of ad servers, and probably more common in ad servers that serve the type of ads I saw on some of those image hosting sites.
Although I personally have no objection to freely-consenting adults viewing or starring in porn, the image hosting sites on our disallowed list display some very graphic images to anyone -- including children -- who may visit their pages, and may or may not depict people under 18 years of age in some of their porn, and anyone would be right to block those sites.

Re: OK... Where did my skins go?
And of course this breaks open the "Photobucket" wound. You'd think if Facebook and other sites could make their money with ads, instead of charging users, PB could too.

Re: OK... Where did my skins go?
You are most welcome, Jewel. I completely understand not wanting to change all those images out yet again. PB has created a nightmare. Some have set up their own websites for uploading their images. I'm not one of them, so I can't say how well it works out, or the pricing on doing it.

You're welcome, Jewel.

And yet, Facebook and Twitter are worth billions of dollars, without having to charge a dime to their users.

I have a lot of images on a site I originally set up for other purposes in 2003, and it works great.
