A member of my board had been gone a few months and when she came back both her avatar and her signature were gone. They appeared to have been removed from Gifyu. Do you routinely remove people's graphics?

No problem, we can answer this.

First of all, I would like to point everyone to our terms of service. [sign in to see URL]

All user images are retained for lifetime, however guest images expire automatically after one year.

I understand this can be disappointing for many but we implemented this due to ever growing images on our site we find difficult to manage. Further, we make very little money to keep the site running and storage space are one of the primary expense.

Another reason would be a server migration we did few months back which changed URL of images uploaded before 2017. This can be easily fixed by adding three character to the image URL.

To comment further, I would need the link to the image to check our logs to confirm how it got removed.

We had to migrate our older server to a new file server cluster. Hence had to make the change in URL to add "s0." indicating the server name.

A user refers to someone who has a registered account on our site and images are uploaded while logged in. Guest is someone who don't have an account and upload image without registering for one.
