3rd party hosting issues
So now Photobucket wants $400 a year for 3rd party hosting. Which has caused this problem for the board i help mod...
Is there anyway to remove those huge boxes from the board? It makes it very difficult to read older posts. And frankly it's just ugly and annoying. Any help with this would be amazing. Thank you all in advance.

Re: 3rd party hosting issues
... hmm ... As a temporary fix, try adding Photobucket's URL to the censored words list. Not sure if that will help on the board's design images, but might help with images posted in posts.
If you have the powers to do so, you will need to upload the images to a new site, and then switch out all of the URLs/links in the CSS, HTML, Customize language set, & Edit layout / colors of your board sections in the board's control panel.
You will also find the image links in there to delete in order to get rid of the hijacked images, but you'll need to copy/paste all of the info to a doc or thread to make it faster and easier to add back in once you have the new images ready to put back up.
Pastor Rick has a list of all the sites you can and can't use here on Runboard in this thread:

Here are two other threads on the topic of 3rd party sharing:

Re: 3rd party hosting issues
Thanks! I will share this info with my admin (she's away from her computer for a bit)
Hopefully we can get it sorted. I already pay for Image Shack for all of my personal photos so it would be easy to use that, I just need to make sure that the tier I pay for allows us to do what we need.
Thanks again

Re: 3rd party hosting issues
You are most welcome.
It's a lot of work to relocate and switch out all of the images, but it's cheaper to do so. I really think they're going to find it was a bad move on their part. People might have paid had the price been more reasonable, and they had given plenty of time before shutting down 3rd party hosting.

Re: 3rd party hosting issues
Photobucket is committing business suicide IMHO which leaves everyone who has trusted them in a lurch. This is not the fault of anyone on the staff of this board or Runboard.com
If anyone needs smilies to fix their message board, I am attempting to post the collection of smilies I have collected over the years and host on RBBT.NET
The collection which grows almost daily may be found in this post at my Design Elements message board (over here).

Re: 3rd party hosting issues
Thanks, Rick. I had intended to link to that info, but I didn't know where to look for it ... and I'm still uploading tons of smileys at Whoosh and redoing the smiley code threads ... sometimes I feel like I'm never gonna be done with this task.
Trying to work on my nonFiction Book and game board & card game sets that will go with the book as well. This happened at a bad time, and has put me in a foul mood, I'm afraid. Which is why I keep stating I'm fixing to delete every blasted board I own. *eye-roll* Why is it never easy?

Re:
No more custom backgrounds for me, I guess. For now, they are still ok on the 3 boards I help manage, but the day the images disappear, there is always Runboard background sets to us (thank you RUNBOARD!!)

Re: 3rd party hosting issues
Don't forget that the skins use graphic elements hosted on rbbt.net which is not going anywhere in the foreseeable future. Between Runboard, rbbt.net and CSS tricks there is a whole host of things that can be done without looking for any "outside hosting site."

Re: 3rd party hosting issues
Natasha, I just looked and saw that these photobucket-hosted images were still an issue, so I added a line of CSS to shrink them all down to 15x15px... with the exception of the banners at the top and bottom, since they are still visible for some reason. I hope this helps.
