Posts arrangement/re-arrangement
Is there any way to rearrange posts within a particular forum
For instance:
Inhave a forum on scenery for FSX
I then created posts explaining scenery: 1 - developer packaging, 2 - the directory structure, 3 - installing and 4 - activating the scenery.
I numbered the posts as shown thinking that it might arrange them in proper order but it doesnt.

Re: arranging posts
I think I have found how to rearrange my posts written by me in a forum. I merely selected the post and made it a sticky. Then I did the same for the other posts. Now they appear in theorder that I want.

Re: Posts arrangement/re-arrangement
Good job!
You can also put up one sticky thread that has links to each of the other threads, placed in the order you want.
Because if you post in any of those threads it will bump them up out of order again ... IIRC. (Of course, you can also just unsticky them and then sticky them in the order you want again.)

Re: Posts arrangement/re-arrangement
Hi hecrowell,
This is how I do it.
I create a post which I label in the subject line as "My Thread List for …" (the dots are fill in the blank to say what the list is for).
Then I put my introduction for the thread list (in my case that is multiple posts for a single story). Skip a line and type:
[b]Thread List[/b] now skip another line
[url=link to post]Part One[/url] - my notes
[url=link to post]Part Two[/url] - my notes
[url=link to post]Part Three[/url] - my notes
Now I make the "My thread list" sticky and when I add something I just edit the list to add the url for the new bit. It doesn't matter where those posts show up in the topic list because this topic always takes the user where they want to go.

Re: Posts arrangement/re-arrangement
Here's an example:
The Runboard Directory > Clubs and Entertainment > INDEX (Sticky)
To get the exact code that was used for that post, click on the "Quote" link at the bottom left of that post.
Edit to add: Ignore the [quote] and [/quote] code. This is added for people who actually want to quote all or part of a post.
quote: This is a quote.

Lesigner Girl
Ok - I understand all except for the URL part. I don't quite get where I get the info for the URL. I am reasonably sure that my url will be quite different than what was in the quote link.
Other than that this should be easy to set up.
Pastor Rick
Thanks for your contribution as well....it got me started in the direction I want to go.

Re: Posts arrangement/re-arrangement
Hi again hecrowell,
At the bottom of the boxes that have the messages posted is a set of links, you right click on the one that says "link to this post" and save the link. Then go back to your thread list and paste the link in the url spot.

Re: Posts arrangement/re-arrangement
AHA!!!EUREKA!!
That simple, huh Pastor Rick...I saw that link and wondered what it would be useful for - now I know
Thank you so very much!
Finally - now that I have the threads linked, there is no need to have them showing. I marked them as hidden but I still see them is that because I am the admin? in other words will they be hidden from non admin users?
