You can use the second account to test to see if your setup is working the way you think it is. You can switch it from member, to Mod, to Global Mod, to Admin, and see what your Mods/Global Mods/Admins can and cannot do. You can also remove it from the board/forum membership to test what lurkers can/cannot see/do.

Well, that pretty much whooshed over my head. Help me understand how that would get to the problem of the missing Premium button.

Miz Robbie, Lesa made that account to use it to try to reproduce the missing button thing, and she did that. Now she wants to know if you would like to own that user name, too, along with your Miz Robbie account.

The benefit of having a spare account is that you can view your board as a regular member, rather than the owner, so you can see what regular members see. That is sort of what Jox is saying. There are lots of ways you can use an extra account to see your board.

Susa, I'm just too sick, and my head is too full of cobwebs, to appreciate the significance of this. Do I need to decide right now?

You do not need to decide, now. You can come back later and say that you want it. If you don't want it, just don't bother with it.

I sure hope that you get to feeling better, soon. It is awful to feel so bad.

Thank you, Susa. As has been the case all along, I appreciate your help.

I'm under the impression that I'm waiting for Thor to try to figure out how I can upgrade my board to a Premium board. Are we on the same page with that?

Yes! Lesa has written to Thor. That missing button should not have happened. It is only happening with new accounts. Thor will fix that, but it may take a few days. However, you are on your 30 day free trial, so you will be OK until it gets sorted out. Lesa and Thor have full time jobs outside of Runboard so what they do has to fit around their schedules.

Susa, it's also happening to other new boards? I'm so glad to have company!

No sweat. Our board still has time to run before ads become an issue. And maybe the cobwebs will be gone from my brain by then.

Hi Robbie,

I'll see if I can clear up your confusion about the new 'test account' I mentioned.

This test account has nothing to do with the missing button. I did create it to see if I would see that button with a new account, but now I have no use for that account, and am offering it to you so you can use it for testing and/or other purposes.

The account I am posting with right now is ]Lesigner Girl. This account has global administrative powers, meaning I have administrative access to all the boards on Runboard, and can also suspend boards or accounts that violate our TOS. Susa and the other global admins have this ability, too.

I also own the ]Lesa account, which I mainly use for testing, and a few other accounts. This is a basic account, just like yours, without any special powers.

As a global administrator, I (as Lesigner Girl) can see things that regular members don't see. I can figure out what people should see, based on a board's settings, but in order to see what others are actually seeing, it can be helpful to log in to the Lesa account.

In this case, I created a new account because I was able to see the "Purchase premium credits" button with my Lesa account, and wanted to see if it would be different with a new account.

This new account I created is ]Robbie WA. The only difference between the Lesa account and the Robbie WA account is that the Robbie WA account is new. I figured I don't need any more test accounts at this time, but it could be useful to you, so I named it after you with the intent of offering it to you when I was done with it.

Going back to what Jox and Susa said, you can use the Robbie WA account to see what other people can see and do at your board. For example, I see you have an Archives forum. If you don't want people to post there, you can set it up so (1) anyone can read the Archives, (2) only members of the Archives forum can post in the Archives forum, and (3) no membership can be gained for the Archives forum. Then, to make sure your settings are the way you wanted, you can log into the Robbie WA account and try to post in the Archives forum.

If you think you'll want to add admins or mods to your board, you can give those same powers to the Robbie WA account, log in to that account, and look around the board and board's control panel to see what they can see.

I hope this clears things up.

Lesigner, thank you so much for taking the time to give me such a full explanation! I really appreciate it, and today there are fewer cobwebs in my head so my comprehension is better.

Yes, that sounds like a useful account to have. Where will it show up?

Again, thank you for your thoughfulness. I appreciate it.
