Re: Hidden Forums

For that location I would play with:

.ak_msg_forumlist_belowstats_table and .ak_msg_forumlist_belowstats_table_td

The two classes are related so you can get some visually odd looking results if you leave the first one alone and try to make the second one do all the display work...

Thanks for that Rick. I will have a play with that later today. That looks like it might be exactly what I need.

Re: Hidden Forums

I've probably seen the symbol you used, but am not sure whether it was in my country or not. I live in a small town, and can't recall if or where I've seen that symbol before.

I added something to the top of the CSS at your test board, which will only show up on your forum list. If that's where you want it, you can create an image for your legend, replace the image url, and change the height to the height of your image.

Sandy is this one matching your board colours? Feel free to use this or change the colour etc.

Thanks Marta, that doesn't work though. It can't be an ordinary image.

Thank for that LG. That's not quite what I am wanting though. That's in the right place but I want to be able to put clickable links and all sorts in what I would call a custom box.

As for that no entry sign - Because many of our town roads are so very narrow they can only be one way for vehicles, and therefore that no entry sign is so very common.

Now what we don't see often in this country is stop signs at junctions. Our junctions if not traffic light controlled are simply give way if something is coming.

I can not see the board so I am not sure what you mean by this. Are you looking for some character set combo or maybe a data uri image?

Re: Hidden Forums

Rick, it's this alt character: ⛔

Sandy, if you want to use that symbol, that's fine. Combined with what you have in the description, it will be a good reminder for us to stay out of there unless we're invited. emoticon

You can use an ordinary image through CSS, though.

.forumlistforumname[href$='f1'] {
   padding-right: 28px;
   display: inline-block;
   min-height: 24px;
   background: url('______') no-repeat right;
}

[href$='f1'] comes from the forum's URL. Change the 'f1' so it matches the URL of the forum you want to put the image next to. When a board is first created, 'f1' is always Main Chat. Q&A here at Support is 'f9'.

Change padding-right so it's a few pixels wider than your image.

Change min-height to the height of your image.

Replace ______ with the URL of your image.

If you would rather have the image on the left side of your forum name, change padding-right to padding-left, and change no-repeat right to no-repeat left.

Keep in mind that, if your image host goes down momentarily, we won't see the image while it's down unless it's already stored in our browser's cache.

I have seen that, it is always on a red background in Texas and yes, it does mean "no entry." emoticon

Re: Hidden Forums

What I don't understand is why the image can not be a regular image like this:

#fl_td_1_2 .forumlistforumname {
    display: block;
    height: 15px;
    padding-left: 20px;
    background: url('[sign in to see URL]') top left no-repeat;
}

I know the first bit would need to change to point to the correct forum but is it the placement of the image that is causing the problem?

Re: Hidden Forums

It can be a regular image, and I provided a way to do it above that uses the forum URL instead of relying on an order placement that can change.
