Re: Blog = Members Market Place!?!

I agree with everything you just said, and will add this. Sometimes, I come across a lost newbie who has posted in their blog or live feed, and wish I could comment there and have them receive a notification for it. If I comment, they may or may not see it ever, and even if they do, it might be a month later, or even six months down the road. Who knows? What if they find it months after the fact and ask a question? I won't receive a notification for that, and I can't keep checking every blog and live feed of every place where I've ever left a comment to see if they reply. For this reason, I'll send a PM or email to the lost newbie, or contact the owner of the board they were trying to join, so that person can direct them via PM.

Notifications of replies to blog posts, live feed entries, and comments, would all be a very good thing... with the option to discontinue notifications of replies to those blog posts and live feed entries, of course.

You know what I'm loving right now? The weekend, and my weekend, which are two different things.

Spammers are usually more quiet on their Saturdays and Sundays. Lately, most of our spam has been coming from Poland, with the 2nd runner up coming from Romania. They keep using proxies, but I can usually tell who's who. All but one spammer in yesterday's flood came from one dufus in Poland.

My weekend from my full-time job is usually Sunday and Monday, but I also have this Tuesday off because they need me next Sunday, which will be an easy (and probably fun) night for me, so it's all good. emoticon

Re:

Yup, those two countries are the worst.

We have a bank holiday this monday so there are many here that are pleasd to be getting a long weekend.

Except both my Granddaughters work in hospitality which of course is virtually a 24/7 business so no bank holidays off for them.

My Daughter however works 9 - 5 as a dispenser so she gets bank holidays off.

I don't work at all being retired. And boy did I deserve my retirement when it finally came as I too worked in a job that could run from 9am to 2am, with 14 hour working days. Christmas day being the only day I was guaranteed off.

Retirement is great except for the fact that old age comes with it, rofl.

Re: Blog = Members Market Place!?!

We (in the USA) have a bank holiday on the first Monday of every September, which falls on Sept 5 this year. On Sunday, Sept 4, my company will be giving away millions of dollars in prizes in hourly drawings, and my job will be to read a legal disclaimer, fill out paperwork, and get a signature from each winner. As boring as that may sound, it will take up very little of my time, so I'll be able to hop around and help wherever I can be most useful at any given moment, and I like that kind of variety. emoticon

Four other countries from which we've received a lot of spam:

Indonesia - A guy from Rochdale, Lancashire, known as "]The Kitchen Gangster," hired an individual or group of people from Indonesia to basically spam the entire internet. It took me months to get it to where an appearance from them is rare, and as soon as I did, another individual or group came along from a different country to take their place.

India - SEO spam. They're not really doing SEO, but they are either lying to their clients to make them believe they're doing SEO, or these spammers are clueless enough to believe that they're really doing SEO.

Cameroon - Selling fake documents.

Côte d'Ivoire - Selling stolen credit card information.

We do get occasional reports about scammers from Nigeria, but since 419 scammers like to contact people privately, the only time we find out about them is when someone reports them.

I wish the spammers would retire.
