posticon Bad Internet Connection

OK so let's see how well I fit in around these parts.*

I'm really mad at the update my Kindle got on the internet a few weeks ago. It changed my background color from black to white (which I've gotten used to by now at least) and right when it updated, is when the Wi-Fi started acting up emoticon

So now I could spend 30 minutes writing my thoughts (I only do that at one forum but still) on a show and it goes down the drain when I try to submit it emoticon

Of course, I've picked up the trick to copy & paste to be sure but it's a hassle and sometimes I lose my post while trying to copy emoticon

I have a new computer now but I still rely on my Kindle if my computer's out of batteries.

*not very well I guess

emoticon You fit in just fine. emoticon

How do you lose your post when you copy it first? Does it not copy when you tell it to, just to make sure it copied? If so, do you have an app for notes that you can paste it into? I know it's a hassle to do all of that on a tablet, but it's even more of a hassle trying to type a long post on a tablet without a physical keyboard. I love my Bluetooth keyboard for this reason, but I don't take that to work with me (I get my iPad out on my breaks). Maybe I should start taking it, because it's a real time-saver.

What a pain to lose your color settings, and have to deal with WiFi issues on top of that. I hope you've figured out how to change your color settings back, and you're not still having issues with your WiFi.

When I upgraded my iPad to iOS9 a few days ago, it started giving me the weather in Celsius. When I messed up the settings to try to get it back to Fahrenheit, it switched over from the Australian voice I was using to an American voice, but was still giving me the weather in Celcius. I had to Google to find out how to change back to Fahrenheit and get my Australian voice back, but finally got it working.

For anyone who wants to know...

To change from Celcius to Fahrenheit on iOS9, go to Clock > World Clock > Edit.

To change the voice, go to Settings > General > Siri > Siri Voice.

I'm sorry you have such flaming problem with your Kindle. I hope you can find those burning settings to change things back to how you like them.

And best of sizzling luck!

I always type my response in notepad and then copy it from there to my window to post. Then, if something goes wrong, it is still in notepad.

For my laptop, I plug in most of the time so that I don't run low on batteries.

How long do your batteries on your new laptop last, Brian?

And yes, you fit in.

I have my laptop plugged into a battery backup, and removed the battery that came with it. I got tired of plugging and unplugging the laptop when the battery ran down and filled up.

I put the battery back in every so often to fill it up. Then I take it back out.

It hurts quite a bit! Yeah, if I make a post with around at least 100 words in it, I copy.

It just break since the update! Oh and about changing the background back: I can't. It was just an update (more like a downgrade but anyway...) emoticon

Jox, it won't hurt your laptop's battery to keep it plugged in at all times. Mine is almost always plugged in.

Brian, that sucks about your color settings. Have you googled it to make sure you can't change it back?

When I bought my laptop the tech guy told me if I were to keep it plugged in to remove the battery, it wasn't good for it. *shrugs*

But I wouldn't have to worry about losing it or damaging it if it stayed with the laptop.

Re: Bad Internet Connection

I googled it, and the answer isn't as cut and dry as I thought.

quote:

...as soon as the charge level reaches 100% the battery stops receiving charging energy and this energy is bypassed directly to the power supply system of the laptop.

However...

quote:

In an intensive usage which leads to a large amount of heat produced (i.e. Games) the battery should be removed from the socket in order to prevent unwanted heating.

I haven't had any issues with my current laptop, leaving it plugged in all the time with the battery in, but mileage may vary by laptop and usage. I do create videos from time to time on my laptop, but I think extensive gaming would give it more of a workout.
