For those who might not know, an LTC driver delivers long term care medical products and equipment to homes and/or institutions.

Re: Giving Notice...
I worked at a job that was 10 hours/4 days & 8 hours/1 day ... and I had co-workers that left this job to go to another one that was part time. Some even had two part-time jobs ... and some even had spouses with one full-time job and one or two part-time jobs.
I do not see how they did it. Well, I guess they had to since they were all minimum wage jobs. At least they had benefits with their full time jobs.

Re: Giving Notice...
I am often shocked by the working life in America.
Here in Germany, if someone works full time, and the money isn't enough to support their family, the state helps. In fact, Germany only now introduced a minimum wage in order to make companies pay a living wage. It has reduced those state payments to families that just couldn't make it. (Think single moms or dads.)
It still isn't fun to live at the poverty line in Germany, and dealing with the bureaucracy that's the job office and support center is never easy - but it's still much, much better than in the US. Yes, I pay fairly high taxes, but to me, it is worth it.

Re: Giving Notice...
I'm glad Germany has a good safety net, but am surprised that they only recently implemented a minimum wage.

Re: Giving Notice...
Since I was not really ready to go crazy with job hunting -- until my vacation at least -- I had only put in three applications, and those online.
Now, I have the interview on Tuesday for the job I currently most want, and I got a call Saturday for a part-time overnight stocking position at a grocery store -- where they treat the workers better (added that since I currently work in grocery ).
While I could try for both at the same time, I put off the stocking position until after I see how the interview goes. So, it seems there is a market for my skills after all! lol. And to think that I felt trapped in my current job for most of the years I worked there.
It is probably good timing to go job hunting now since so many young people are heading back to school. Then too, eight and one-half years in one place probably helps on the resume.

That's because unions are strong here, and have managed to agree on standard contracs with higher wages.
The minimum wage now helps in those fields that don't have strong unions, like hairdressers, people helping on farms or working in slaughterhouses.
