Premium Board Cost Estimator
I just had this rather wild idea. Would it be possible to have a "Yearly Premium Cost Estimator" at the bottom of a boards "statistics" page?
It could say something like: "Based on the last 90 days of activity the cost for your board to go Premium would cost $___.__ per year"
The blank would be filled in with the projected cost to maintain Premium Board status for a year based on the boards statistical activity over the last 90 days...

Re: Premium Board Cost Estimator
Would this be for people who don't know how to do simple math?

Re: Premium Board Cost Estimator
More like for those who hate doing math.
It would also be a nice tool to help board owners in their yearly planning and promotions when it comes to "goal setting."

Re: Premium Board Cost Estimator
I suppose it could be helpful to show an estimation of how long premium might last with any particular combination of miscellaneous settings, assuming a board's activity doesn't change within that year.

Re: Premium Board Cost Estimator
Question: What about brand new boards that could either grow quickly or fail, or boards that change their settings? A calculator could never account for that.

Re: Premium Board Cost Estimator
One would hope that a board would grow and have a increase in activity. The estimated cost should be based on the last 90 days activity in my mind so that number/cost would tend to change over time at any rate...

Re: Premium Board Cost Estimator
What about boards that are only 2 days old?

Re: Premium Board Cost Estimator
New boards defined as any board that Runboard has in the "preview mode" would not see the estimator since they:
1. are in a "ad free" status during that time, and
2. do not have to have keywords or descriptions defined.
I think that covers the first 7 days or so in a boards existence.
From a programming pov I think it would be easier to start showing the estimator only after a board reaches the 30 day mark.

Re: Premium Board Cost Estimator
#1 is moot at the moment since we don't currently display banner ads, and I don't know if/when that will change.

Possibly, or maybe 90. If we could do an 180-day average, that would be more accurate, although it would also be good to account for recent upswings and/or downswings in growth, if at all possible.
My main concern here is giving people the wrong impression of what to expect. If we quote someone a specific price for a year, they might take that as a fixed price rather than an estimated cost based on their previous activity, and I don't want anyone to feel as though they've been misled.

Re: Premium Board Cost Estimator
I think the estimator should have a label or tag or disclaimer saying something like:
Yearly Projected Cost Estimator for Premium Board Status
Approximately $___.__ based on your current board statistics.
Changes in your board's activity and/or security settings WILL cause this number to change.
