Hi guys! Long time no see emoticon

I'm a premium user, and on our board
we wanted more topics in a thread. (Chit Chat)I changed it to a higher # but it won't go over 20.
Even though I am premium and admin, does the owner of the board have to be premium also? That's kinda what I'm thinking.
Thank you in advance!
Jewel

Re: Premium

Hi Jewel,

Neither your user premium nor the board owner's premium status has any effect on board-specific features. In order to change the number of posts in a topic or topics in a forum, the board itself needs to be premium.

For more information, see: ]Free vs Premium.

Note: We don't currently have banner ads, so that part is irrelevant at this time. However, we don't know if we will have banner ads again or not, so I have left the part about ads on that page for now.

I hope this helps!

Re:

Jewel, having premium members really helps at a busy board. This is the notice that I have posted at my board. It may help you and you are most welcome to use the notice, but you need to put your board's link in, instead of my link. Your link would be [url][sign in to see URL]

quote:

The story on Premium Membership and a Premium Board is this.

As a Premium Board I pay per page view for each person who comes here in order to keep the board advertisement free.

If a person has a Premium Membership I do not have to pay for any of their page views. They also have several personal perks, one of which is being able to be invisible on the boards if they like. Another perk is more storage space in the private message box. Also, you will not see any advertising anywhere you go on all of Runboard.

If you use this link:
[url][sign in to see URL] or go directly from this board to buy Premium using the "Upgrade account" on this board, I will receive 10,000 free page views for the board which helps pay for people who are looking at the board. The cost is $10 a year for each person who becomes Premium.

You do not have to have PayPal in order to become Premium. A Paypal page will pop up but on that page there is an option to pay by credit card.

I do not want anyone to think that they must buy Premium credits. I value everyone of you whether you are paid or not and I want you not your money. I do not feel bad when I have to buy Premium credits for the board.

Re: Premium

Hi Jewel,

The price for a premium board is based on the page views a board has (ie: traffic) instead of a specific amount of time.

There are some ways to make the premium board status take longer to expire by adjusting who sees what and when. I do not know what the average time would be for a premium board overall but if you look at the board stats in the control panel you can get a "worse case scenario" on what it would cost for your board each year.

Re: Premium

No. Premium board is $25 per 100,000 credits.

1 credit = 1 non-premium page view, with an exception.

As Susa pointed out, premium members do not deplete these page views, plus everyone who upgrades using the "Upgrade account" link at your board will add 10,000 premium views to your board.

For example, since you are a premium user, none of your page views will count against your board's premium credits. If Pat upgrades her user account to premium, then none of her views will count against the board's premium credits. Plus, if Pat upgrades after clicking on the "Upgrade account" link at your board, this will result in 10,000 premium views for your board.

Dang. I see when I previewed that PR beat me to it, but I hope this information helps, too.

Re: Premium

Oh yeah, you can also participate in the Runboard Directories various promotions which have prizes from 10,000 to 100,000 free page views awarded to the winning message boards. emoticon

And (just remembered this), You can use the boards security settings to disallow those who are not logged in from seeing your board. That stops a lot of robots from costing you money so they can look at your board. The down side there is it also stops legitimate search engines like Google from crawling and indexing your board.

PR can't see your stats as far as page views go, but I can see what you can in your board's control panel. Since your board gets so many page views, it could get very expensive to upgrade it, unless your most active members also upgrade their user accounts. As Susa pointed out above, views from premium user accounts won't count against your board's premium views.

Looking at Runboard's global Hall of Honor, Pat is our most active member, so she is probably the most active at your board. If she upgrades her user account, then her views won't count against the board's premium credits. Further, if she uses the "Upgrade account" link at the board when she upgrades her own account, this will earn the board 10,000 premium credits.

If you wish to upgrade her personal account for her, just let me know, and I will add those board referral credits manually. emoticon

If you find anomalies in your stats, such as a day or more having a lot more views than usual, just let me know and I'll give your board more credits to make up for it. Thor has programming in place to account for bots, but an unknown spam bot does get in once in a while.
