Log In from a board... not right for me...(resolved)

Hello,

I am experiencing a strange behavior when I sign in from a message board. You have things a tad confusing with a "login" link in that black top bar and two different "sign in" links on the message boards so describing the trouble/oddity is a bit wordy for which I apologize in advance.

I use the first "sign in" link which is the link on the right side of the screen just above the forums list on a board. I am on that board but the "sign in" takes me to a different screen for me to enter my user name and password.

When I do that the black bar at the top changes to show me as being signed in but instead of returning me to the Runboard I was on it stays on the screen that asks me to enter my user name and password!

Thank goodness I have been a member long enough to know what to do but shouldn't Runboard return me to the board I signed in from? It is terribly confusing the way it works now.

I know all of you are busy so there is no need to respond to me right now. I am only online about once a month, but when you get a chance I would appreciate knowing I am not the only one seeing this odd "dead end looking" kind of behavior.

Hi Susan,

I'm unable to reproduce the issue. What am I doing differently here?

Hi Susan,

Drop by my house and we can talk about it but I am afraid this is a programming issue so I think it really belongs in the "bugs" forum. When you reply I will move the topic over there for further discussion with those in the know.

PR, thank you for helping me reproduce it.

If you log in with the form in the navbar itself, it will take you back to the exact same page you are already on. This means, if you are on the login page, it will take you back to the login page. Likewise, if you're viewing page 2 of a topic, it will take you back to page 2 of that topic. The form itself is working properly. The problem is that we have all of these obsolete "Sign in" links that we don't need anymore, ever since we added the navbar to the top of every page.

emoticon Pastor Rick you can "move" this now. But... Lesigner Girl, is it hard to remove those obsolete links? Just curious...

Thanks for helping me out both of you. I'll give both of you some karma even though I don't believe in that sort of stuff. emoticon

Hi Susan,

It shouldn't be hard to remove them, but I don't have access to that part of the code without manually doing it in each board's Custom Language Set.

Any board owners who want to remove it can remove %1 (%3) | %6 (%7) from the misc_regacc field and leave it blank, or replace it with something else like "You are not logged in."

I don't believe in the mystical type of karma, either, but thank you for the Runboard karma. Karma back at ya! emoticon
