It's never easy!

I have ideas that seem like they should be easy but always seem to be more complicated when I try and do them. It just isn't fair, sometimes I wish a idea would just work the first time!

Smilies need more room, "add a image" says I have to show my log-in details if I want to share, hosting my own image script says I have to learn a new programming language! I have the vision, it looks good from what I can see in execution but man-o-man it gets frustrating at times...

ahhh... glad I got that out of my system. emoticon

What do you mean "show" your login details? Are you talking about Tinypic's uploader widget? Isn't it just asking you to log in?

Yes but logging in takes me to my account. From there I have to navigate to the album containing the pics I want to use. Then I can select the one needed. All of that is fine for me but not for a "game aid" allowing others to use pics created for the game.

OMG! I just had a idea that might work... Maybe I can create a set of scrolling boxes under the smilies with the pics and codes in them... gotta check that out because if it works that removes so many restrictions it ain't even funny!

You can create a page (which you'll presumably host on rbbt.net) that opens in an absolutely-positioned iframe, where people can click inside a text box to automatically copy the [img] code for an image. This will require some javascript on the page that's in the iframe.

Let me know if you need help with this.

Hmm... I see Photobucket uses flash to accomplish what I was proposing.

Edit: How about a code to highlight everything in an input box so it can be easily copied? This is from 2009, but I think it could work. You would have to provide directions on that page, of course.

SEE! That says I have to try and figure out another language (which I keep intending to do but never find the time). emoticon

I'm not well-versed in javascript, either, but stackoverflow is an excellent resource for that and other coding/programming questions. emoticon

That's often possible, for someone with a logical mind. emoticon Even if you don't know how to write javascript, it's often possible to read some of the simpler functions without actually knowing the language, much like it's often possible to read bits of a human language you've never learned before.

A good example: Patterns of Similarity and Difference in Spanish and English
