Poll Thread Admin Rights (Fixed)

Hi Guys,

I have just discovered that as Admin of my board, I am unable to disable and/or remove poll from a thread started by a newbie by mistake.

I mean, I can go into that thread, but I have no previlages whatsover to do anything with the Poll itself.

I don't want to delete the whole thread, as the newbie just enabled the Poll by mistake it seems.

Is this a gap in the admin feature set?

Edit to add 'fixed' to subject line. ~LG

Hi Jalal,

There's no way to remove the poll completely without deleting the topic, but you should be able to close voting on it. If you don't see that option, I'll close it for you and let Thor know.

Thanks Lesa, that's what I thought I could do, but I can't see that option available to me and I can't see anything to do with the poll itself when am editing the post.

You won't be able to do anything to the poll in edit mode. Although the posts attached to polls can be edited just like any other post, the polls themselves can't be edited or removed; they can only be closed from voting and re-opened.

I went ahead and closed the voting for you. If you don't see an option to re-open it below the "Poll results (voting closed)" heading, I'll try to do some testing tomorrow with two test accounts to see if I can reproduce the issue, since board admins should have this ability.

On an off-topic note, your clocklink isn't loading and it's slowing down your board.

Thanks Lesa.

Confirmed, I went back in again and I can't see anything to do with the Poll. I can't see any controls to enable me to close it or re-open is as admin.

P.S. Clocklink is working fine for me here emoticon Did I tell you I hate FF. hahahaha emoticon emoticon

You're welcome, Jalal. emoticon

I ran my own test, took screen shots of the issue, and will send it along to Thor.

You're welcome, Jalal, and thanks for the suggestion. I think I'll do that now.

Too much multitasking, I guess. ;^)

There is only one option that is available to the board staff when dealing with a poll not created by them besides the ultimate "delete the topic." We can "close" the topic which stops any activity on the topic including any poll attached to said topic. I just looked and find it hard to believe there has never been a feature request asking for at least the board owner to be able to close voting on a poll!!!

I didn't realize closing the topic would also result in closing the poll, but I see that you're right. That would have been undesirable here, of course, but I'm as surprised as you that nobody has requested this or brought it up as a bug. I personally see it as a bug or oversight, although I suppose it could still count as a missing feature. Either way, I think board staff -- or at least board owners -- should have that capability.
