Have you read the manual or watched the video? The manual provides detailed instructions, but please let me know if any of it isn't clear. The video also shows a step by step on how to enable the widget, add it to your page, and customize it.
Also, at the bottom of that manual page, there's a link to a page I set up on a third-party site where you can mess with the styling before adding it to your site. I would link to it here, but that link might change in the future, and I will update it on that page if/when it does. The manual page also includes instructions on how to use the third-party site.
But here's the short answer:
1) No. Only add CSS for the parts you want to change.
2) Wherever you already have existing CSS.
Here's that video:
Rick, the order of CSS does sometimes matter. If you have something defined in one place, then define it again another way, it will take whatever you did last, as long as they're targeted in the same way. If you need more explanation, we can go over it in chat sometime, or start a new topic somewhere.
Re: About that Widget... The only thing you need to do in your HTML is paste the code exactly as it's given to you in the page where you enable the widget.
The video should help you understand customization a little better, but you can also play around with the CSS on the test page at that third-party site. Don't worry, any changes you make on the test page won't change it for anyone else, so play around with that all you want without fear.
Re: Oh good. I wanted to change it to match the board a bit. I also wanted to change the title so that it's clear the stats are for the message board as I have website stats that are similar. I'll mess around and come crying to you when I can't figure it out. :shifty:
I'm not sure what you mean by changing the title. If you want to change the color of the board name in the widget, you can do that with CSS, and that's actually the one thing I customized in the video.
You can't change the actual wording in the widget itself, but you can add a heading above the widget code like I also did in the video where it says, "Visit my message board!"
Re: Yes it does! I just wanted to make it clear that the stats are for the message board. I told you about the efiction code and so it's just figuring out where to put it so that it doesn't mess up those stupid .tpl files and indexes.
Re: About that Widget... Figuring out where to put things in a CMS system you didn't create can be a pain. If this is for Rabid Reader, I figure you can probably put it where the current link to your board is, and it shouldn't mess anything up.
I sent you a PM with a page at CSSDesk where I set up some code you might want to use. If you use it, make sure you remember to change the skin to skin0 in your board's control panel, and grab the new code it will generate.
Re: About that Widget... I got your PM and you are just the most wonderful person ever. I put the code there when testing it and it had a delayed like load I wasn't too happy with. But, I might have to go with it. I like the widget though and think it's a brilliant addition and might even add the BC widget to the website too. Can I do that, have the two widgets?
Also, Starry mentioned wanting a like and dislike for posts on RB which I thought was very FB , but I told her I'd mention it . I believe she'd like/dislike a post without having to give out Karma. Anywho, I don't think it's a huge issue, but, like I said I told her I'd mention it to you.
