Argh!!! IE9

So my laptop updates to Vista SP2 and Windows update immediately downloads and installs IE9. Since I use IE Tester I figure "no biggy" as the only time I ever use IE is when testing codes anyway... Then Ms Sandy Berger says on her website that
quote:

The most important reason to upgrade, however, is because IE 9 is much more secure. It has been updated to block more threats like phishing sites and malicious downloads.

This starts me laughing because IE9, the version downloaded by MS Windows update, arrived with both the "I Want This" and "i Cross Rider" malware as part of the installation package! Does MS even bother to check for these things?

Before you ask, I did a Spybot Search and Destroy scan before allowing the downloads and updates. Now I am doing it again to get rid of the malicious downloads IE9 is supposed to block... Argh!!!

Are you absolutely certain this is the browser upgrade that was released by Microsoft?

On the bright side, it's good to know that ]IE9 is available for Vista, which also gives me hope that they'll make it available for XP. I just hope they get rid of the malware, if this was indeed from them.

Yay! emoticon

However, I do have a complaint about automatic updates. My FF automatically upgraded this morning, so now I have to wait for the people who make the "Live Click" third party add-on to make it compatible with the current version. If I could have waited to upgrade my FF, I'd be able to use "Live Click" right now. emoticon

For some reason, Firefox has gotten very slow for me and Runboard often times out. I switched to Chrome a couple weeks ago and the problem is solved. However, I must say that I still prefer how Firefox works. That is probably because I was there for so long.

YouTube was freezing my Firefox, but now I think it might have been from having LiveClick checking so many RSS feeds. Once I get LiveClick back, I think I'll change my settings so most of the subscriptions are only checked once a day.

Hi Teayo,

I don't use IE enough to have it crash on me, but it does take a while to load when I open it to check pages I've created.

On my note about YouTube freezing up, it isn't LiveClick that was causing it, because it freezed up again yesterday. Maybe I'll google for answers on that one of these days. emoticon

Whenever my FF browser freezes up while at YouTube or a site with a lot of videos, sometimes I get a report that Adobe Flash crashed. Perhaps that is your problem too?
