Scroll to the bottom of the page where you'll see:    Powered by AkBBS 0.9.5b - Link to us - Blogs - Hall of Honor - Disable chat - Create your free forum Click on "Disable chat" there. If chat is disabled, that link will change to say "Re-enable chat," which you can click on to re-enable chat at any time. If you're on a board that has a lot of stuff in its page footer, that line might not be quite at the bottom. This option uses cookies to remember your preference, so if you delete your cookies, it will default to enable chat until you disable it again. This also means that if you use Runboard on more than one computer, you will need to set this preference on each computer, but it will remember your preference until you delete your cookies for that computer. Tips Chat in one tab, surf Runboard in another If you are chatting with a friend and want to surf Runboard at the same time, you can chat in one tab, and do all your Runboard surfing in another. This way, you won't have to wait for the chat feature to load every time you load a new page. If you do this, you might want to set your audio alerts to alert you every time you receive a new message. Troubleshooting OMG! My chat box disappeared! If you have multiple Runboard pages open in multiple tabs, the chat box will only appear on one of those pages. In the following screen shot, you can see by the (1) that the chat box is open in the tab where my profile is open. Since I am currently looking at Thor's announcement about this chat feature being in beta, I will need to click on the middle tab where my profile is open, in order to see the chat box. The number in parentheses will only show up if you have unread messages, so if you don't have any messages waiting to be read, then you will need to look at each tab where you have Runboard open until you find the chat box. If you still can't find the chat, refresh one of the pages where you have Runboard open. It might be that you closed the tab where the chat was open, and refreshing a Runboard page should retrieve it.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Lesigner Girl)Mon, 13 Jun 2011 18:45:35 +0000 Runboard Chathttps://bakheva.runboard.com/p269999,from=rss#post269999https://bakheva.runboard.com/p269999,from=rss#post269999Currently, Runboard Chat is for chatting one-on-one, but we may add multi-way chatting in the future. Added multi-way chat on Feb 2, 2012. This isn't in the video, but check the end of this post to see how it works. The following video will explain how to use the features, but if you can't watch the video for any reason, just read the rest of this post. If you have a question that this thread doesn't answer, please ask in Q&A. For troubleshooting, tips, and later developments that aren't explained in this video, please scroll down to my reply below. How to chat Before you can chat, you need to have friends in your friend list. In addition to being listed under the "Friends" tab in your profile, they will also be listed in the chat box. To chat with one of your friends, click on his or her name in the chat box, type a message into the text box at the bottom of the chat box, and hit the "enter" key on your keyboard to send the message. To add a friend Click on "Add as a friend" from either the top of that person's profile, or in the list of links that pops up when you click on their name from a board. At the prompt, type in a message for that person, send the request, then wait for him or her to approve you. If someone else sends you a friend request, you can approve them by going into your own profile, then click on the "Friends" tab. To open chat You'll see a small box on the bottom right corner of your screen that says "Chat." The number next to this will tell you how many of your friends are appearing online at the time. To open chat, click on this little box. Moving/Resizing the chat box To resize the chat box, click on the corner that's closest to the middle of the window and drag it. One of these little triangles will show up in the corner where you can click and drag to resize it. To move the chat box to a different corner of the screen, click on this 4-arrow icon, and drag it across the screen. To minimize the chat box, click on this down arrow. Status indicators The green, yellow, and gray icons will tell you whether someone is online, away, or offline. Green means online and available. Yellow means away or busy. Gray means offline or hidden. Your Status You can set your status by using this dropbox. When you minimize chat, the color you see next to the word "Chat" is the same color your friends will see next to your name. If you keep your status set to "Online" but you're inactive for a while, your status indicator will turn yellow. Once you're active again, it will turn back to green. Changing colors/backgrounds Clicking on the camera will change the colors and images in the chat box. There are only 2 themes at the time of this writing, but we'll add more in the future. Adding smileys to your messages Clicking on the smiley will bring up a list of clickable smileys, that work the same way they do on boards. If you know the code for a smiley, you can type it in instead, just as you can do on boards. Need help? Clicking on the help icon will bring you to this FAQ topic. Audio alerts You can receive an audio alert when someone sends you a message, or you can disable these alerts. There are three settings: You'll receive an audio alert every time someone sends you a message, whether the chat box is open or closed, and whether you are already chatting with that person or not. You'll receive an audio alert every time someone sends you a message, but only if the chat box is minimized. This will disable audio alerts completely. Unread messages When you have unread messages, a number will show up in the browser's tab to let you know how many friends are waiting for you to read their messages. If your browser is open to the same tab where the chat box is, this number will also appear in the title bar. • You will also see a red dot in the chat box itself, next to the name of anyone who has sent you one or more messages that you haven't read yet. If you have a long list of friends and you see in the tab/title bar that you have new messages, but you don't see the red dot, just scroll down your list of friends to find it. Multi-way Chat - (Added Feb 2, 2012) Near the upper left corner of the chat interface, you'll see where it says, "Friends" and "Rooms". To enter multi-way chat, click on "Rooms", then click on the room you wish to join. To leave a chatroom, click on the icon. If you go back to one-on-one friend chat without clicking on this icon, you will still appear visible in the room. To go back to one-on-one friend chat, click on "Friends".nondisclosed_email@example.com (Lesigner Girl)Mon, 13 Jun 2011 18:41:03 +0000
