Hamburger Helper directions Hamburger Helper meals are horrid! Don't they know a married man or bachelor has no idea how to cook? The directions say simmer but it still looks like it is boiling to me. Those directions need picture to show us poor men what to look for! Maybe if the makers had to eat the results of the man's attempts to cook they would do better. I think I'll mail the left-overs to them to see if they can figure out what I did wrong because of their sorry excuse for directions... what a waste...
Try converting a buttermilk biscuit recipe to metrics AND French. I was trying to find self-rising flour the other day, but apparently they don't have that in France.
What went wrong with your Hamburger Helper? Overcooked or not cooked enough? Too much or not enough sauce? Did you stir it enough?
As for simmering, a video can be worth a thousand pictures.
Re: Hamburger Helper directions What sauce? They had this packet thing in the box but it was all powdery. I had to put two beef bullion cubes in with it just to get some flavor because it tasted like it was the 3rd day of a casserole left-over! I might have let it "simmer" too long because the noodles were kinda rubbery. But I did try to follow the directions.
Re: Hamburger Helper directions I consider myself a gourmand cook and must admit that I love Hamburger Helper..................... Not!
Of course I add my own spices to them, oh, and sour cream, onions and occasionally mushrooms and extra meat but I'm sure that has nothing to do with how they taste.
Otherwise Rick we like to call em cardboard taste in a box. Kinda like the new & improved Kraft Mac & Cheese with cheese crystals instead of the regular cheese powder.
Re: Hamburger Helper directions I looked at a few different sites for using all-purpose flour when something calls for self-rising, and they all say to use baking powder instead of baking soda. Of course, none of them were in metric, so I had to convert that, too. I wonder if I can find baking powder here.
Re: Hamburger Helper directions I think I used too much water because it was kinda soupy. I never saw anything about additions to the packet like sour cream but that is on my list of things to try next time.
Re: Hamburger Helper directions Most of them call for ground beef so if you add sour cream and mushrooms you have a stroganof that varies in taste with the original item.
