I passed my drivers license test, on a snowy day, on slick roads lol. I've known of some people freaking out about Illinois snow/icy weather and they will go out and cause a traffic jam at the grocery store to stock up, because the weather is supposed to get bad.. While they were all stocked up and thought they were 'trapped in their house because of the weather' everyone else was out driving on it, just like any other day lol.

I wonder how long it took that guy to record so many cars sliding in that intersection. Looks like they should have laid some dirt down long before that.

Once when I was 16, I was slowly driving over a small ravine bridge that had wooden poles down both sides. I barely tapped my brakes to slow down even further, but this threw the car into a 270-degree spin, stopping sideways in the middle of the bridge. Those poles were so close to both ends of the car, I had to go back and forth several times just to get back out of there, and it was amazing that I didn't hit any of them in that spin.

It even snows and ices over in Texas! When I was 16 I was going down this hill after a ice-storm. When I started I was only going 10mph but the car kept speeding up so I hit the brake which caused me to slide into a fence and spun the car to within a couple of feet of the church sign where my dad was a pastor! The neighbor was not amused and even though I paid for the fence they never came to my dads church after that...

You "hit" the brake? emoticon Well, you were only 16... emoticon

I would hate to have a neighbor who couldn't forgive a kid for having an accident on an icy hill, especially after you paid for that fence. With that attitude, I doubt the guy has many friends.

Yup, we didn't even report it to the insurance company. I racked leaves and cleaned kitchens all winter to pay for the fence. The most embarrassing part was my dad set up the cleaning jobs with members of the church so everyone knew about it! emoticon

Maybe I should start that up as a business again (thinking about it now). The charge was $100 in 1969 so adjusting for inflation that would be $[sign in to see URL] today!!! That includes cleaning both the stove and refrigerator emoticon

People paid a 16-year-old $100 back then to clean their kitchen? emoticon They must have really felt sorry for you. emoticon

I'm sure you did a good job, though. emoticon
