Visible Application Reminder

I think it would be nice if there was a visible reminder that applications for access were present. Make it a Premium feature and place the number of applications waiting between parenthesis next to the control panel link so the board owner or admin gets a reminder to take care of those new applications before they go...

Re: Visible Application Reminder

I think this would be good. As it stands, admins have to rely on an email to alert them of new applications, but what if their email provider blocks those emails? Then, the only way to check for new applicants is to go through all of these clicks:

control panel > open dropbox > choose board > manage > Security management > Review membership applications

I like your idea of having the number in parentheses next to the control panel link for premium boards, but make it a button that goes directly to the "Review membership applications" page instead, and hovering on it can give admins a tooltip that says, "This board has # applications waiting".

To see what I'm talking about, put this HTML on a page to test it out:

<a href="http://www.runboard.com/control_panel">Control panel</a> <input title="This board has # applications waiting" type="submit" value="1" />

The actual code would have to include the <form> tag and other input tags to make it work, and styling to make it inline and smaller, but that gives you the basic idea.

Other possibilities would be a PM to the board owner, or having a button show up on every page of the board's control panel only when there are new applicants, which goes directly to the "Review membership applications" page. Perhaps putting it under the "Back to board management panel" and making it red would be a good way to alert admins.

Re: Visible Application Reminder

I get it, kinda like the members (list) link works now but with a tooltip added. We could have it both on the board and inside the Security management button area instead of creating a new button but in the control panel the little link could be red to draw attention to it.

How about the Premium feature being the link showing in both places and the Free boards having the link only visible in the control panel?

I don't like the PM idea though because the space there is so limiting already and this would make it even more difficult to manage...

I figured Thor might prefer a form button, because that's what he currently uses to access all board control panel pages. I don't know if he does that for security reasons or other reasons, and don't know how he would feel about putting all of those variables into a plain link rather than into a form.
