What do you look for in a skin?

I've just been playing with a new skin I'm hoping to add to the skins forum pretty soon, and I was wondering... what do you look for in a skin? What do you expect the skin to have included in it?

Would you prefer a plain skin that has more functional add-ins like all the top/bottom anchors, sidebar/topbar for links etc. etc.

Would you prefer a skin that has a lot of neat fancy graphics, but not a lot of functional add-ins..

It seems like each time I make a skin, I try to kind of get in between both functional and neatness.. and I end up taking up most of the internal CSS space doing so.. so it's be nice to know which people would prefer more of.

Also sometimes people get used to certain CSS add-ins that are added to the board they frequent the most, and feel weird on a board without them. (I do think with the up/down arrows in posts.) So I would like to ask you what add-ins do you expect to be on every skin?

I love all your designs Josh, I'm currently using your Dark Web skin at the moment. I went for this skin as I like the colors and layout. Nothing to fancy but enough to make people say...Wow...that's a great looking board, all your designs in this skin is everything I really like and go for.

I've made a few tweaks here and there to my satisfaction but I'm keeping this one for now. Really nice work Josh, thanks for making this skin, I hope others who use your skins give you the appreciation you deserve for them.

But seriously, I would like to know which people prefer more.. Skins with really neat looking graphics, or more functionable add-ins, because I am using a lot of the CSS space up trying to add both.

I also would like to know what people expect to be on every skin, (like back to top links, a place for affiliates/links, and so on.

Back to top and some type of menu system for me (pull-down, nav-bar or sidebar)...

Pull down menus are good to have as some people don't like to have a sidebar, I like either emoticon
