The Lesigner Girl/SKOKEY Collaboration
Most of the boards are either very specific or general friends/social/chat boards. It seemed kind of tough to come up with a generic theme that a new board owner might want to use as a board skin.
Then, I thought about what I do at my board, which is to change it up by the season.
So, how about Four Skin Season Series?
Whatever features we use will be the same on each so that you can change every 4 months without having to rearrange your content. This would lend itself well to the general chat boards. It seemed like a waste to make a specific theme that might never get used.
For instance, I really hope someone uses Pastor Rick's Movie theme and Books theme. They look great and he put a lot of work into them.
Another Idea would be a Holiday Series. Again, if we keep the features the same as the seasons, you can quickly change your Autumn board to Halloween and so on.

Re: The Lesigner Girl/SKOKEY Collaboration
A Seasons collection is an excellent idea! Let's go with it. You make the graphics and I'll write the code. If you have a unique layout in mind that isn't obvious by just seeing the graphics, you can make a graphic of what the finished product should look like, and I'll take it from there.
I've actually seen a few boards using the Books skin. I don't remember if I've seen any using Movie Times, though.
Edit: Would you like me to set up a test board with generic code and add you as an admin?

Re: The Lesigner Girl/SKOKEY Collaboration
That would have been my next step, but yeah, go ahead and set it up.

Re: The Lesigner Girl/SKOKEY Collaboration
Pugs is using the Movie Times theme. I was thinking on category based themes for my own skins.

Re: The Lesigner Girl/SKOKEY Collaboration
It might take me a while to think it out as a complete project so that every graphic element is the same size between all the boards in the Seasonal & Holiday Suite. That way, you can change from one to the other without any layout mishaps.
You know how you can change the systems text links to buttons in the custom language set? Can all that be done through HTML and CSS to make changing the skins easier too?
It sure would be cool to only have to copy and paste 3 sections to go from one skin to the next. It would take less than 3 minutes.

Re: The Lesigner Girl/SKOKEY Collaboration
It's possible to change everything using just the CSS if the only content you are changing is the graphics and fonts. They trick is to leave enough room in the custom CSS area for board owners to make their own adjustments (should they want to).

Re: The Lesigner Girl/SKOKEY Collaboration
The graphics don't have to be all the same size from skin to skin. One swap of the CSS will take care of all that.
As for the cpanel and other links, we could put a 1px transparent gif in for each of those through the Custom Language Set, each with its own alt attribute and ID. That way, swapping those (background) images would be taken care of in the CSS swap.
Or, we could keep the text and put button images in behind the text, or even a decorative image to the left of each one. Check out the board now and hover on those links.

Re: The Lesigner Girl/SKOKEY Collaboration
I'll probably keep all the graphics the same size from board to board anyway, just to keep the look uniform. Even though the graphics will be different, you will have a familiar feel about it and will know where everything is. If you are making a design change every 2 or 3 months, you don't want to shock your members too much.
