Re: Ban users by custom title addition

Banned and exiled usernames already do show up in the whosonline. Also, if you don't want a banned person to see inside a private forum, then don't have them on that private forum's member list.

Sorry, maybe I still don't understand what you're saying.

Re: Ban users by custom title addition

The banned and exiled users would show up as banned users or exiled users in the who's online bar (they would be identified as such). Currently a guest or visitor to a board has a automatic custom title of 3 which allows them to see the boards forums (except for private forums of course). I am saying that since this is already in place then it should also be possible to have banned users with a automatic custom title of 1 which could be set so that all the boards forums are invisible to them while exiled users could have a automatic custom title of 2 with a admin option to make forums visible (i.e. treat them like a guest except for how they show up on the who's online bar and the restriction preventing them from posting)... Maybe I should make a chart emoticon

It took like 3 rereads to understand all that, from page 1 and here Rick. LOL!

I get what your saying *though banned is worse than exiled I think emoticon*:

We have a set thing, such as maybe a different color for the banned users like we have for the Head Administrator for the board in the Staff listings at the bottom of the board, except have it be red or something. And an Exiled user, which is one who would have no chance in a snowstorm of coming back in, be unable to do anything aside from seeing the beautiful background and banner, although technically they still see the sidebar as well since nowadays our banners are controlled via the sidebar code in the CSS.

*I may have made my own explanation wrong, but I do fully understand exactly what you were going for Rick, I just had a few ideas I wanted to throw in the mix. emoticon*

Re: Ban users by custom title addition

I didn't know this until we came out with board-specific chat rooms last year, but levels 0 and 1 already mean something.

0 = Banned
1 = Not banned, not a member
3 = Lowest possible member rank

These levels cannot be changed.

I don't know what level 2 is, but I'm sure it must have been reserved for a reason.

Re:

Well that doesn't look good on the surface but maybe a positive result is possible. Thor could change the behavior of level "0" so such people could not view posts. That would be better imho than the current settings that allow them to snoop around after they have been kicked out...

I agree, and disallowing level "0" from viewing is probably how he would do it. emoticon
