Re: Favicons on user made skins?
Thanks.
You code pages for fun and I mess around with images for fun. It's a good thing there's all kinds of folks in this world.
My real job couldn't be more different. I'm a architectural door and hardware engineer and locksmith.
I wonder if it would still be fun if I was a graphic designer for a living?

Re: Favicons on user made skins?
I had planned on doing web development for a living, but I'd rather do it as a hobby than to deal with some of the customers I've had to deal with. Maybe some day I'll put together some pre-packaged, fully styled sites, complete with content management systems and sell them outright, but I'd prefer not to do anything else under contract at this time unless it's for a major celebrity or something like that. Unfortunately, the girl I built the site for who interviews celebrities took it upon herself to redesign it yesterday, and it looks so bad now that I quickly took my link out of her footer. She's probably not done playing with it though, so she might come up with something good in the end, but it will still be her design and I can no longer take credit for it anyway. So, there goes the possibility that a celebrity might hire me after reading their interview on her site.
The guy who does graphics at our print shop says he doesn't even want to think about graphics while he's at home.

Re: Favicons on user made skins?
I'm the same way, I think. I've thought that I might go into web designing, or maybe even graphic design when I was trying to think what I wanted to do for college. But I decided it was more of a hobby for me as well. I like to do the coding/graphics on my own time.

Re: Favicons on user made skins?
Come to think of it, I think I might enjoy getting paid to teach this stuff. A professional trying to make a clean break from old-school ways had actually shown interest in having me tutor him, but I'd wait a week or longer for him to return my emails, and eventually decided it wasn't worth the hassle of trying to get together with him. Maybe somebody else, though.

Do you want to teach one on one, or would you be open to work with a group? If so, local schools or collages might be interested.

Re: Favicons on user made skins?
I think I prefer the one-on-one approach. Some people are self-taught to some degree. Of those, some have learned correct ways of doing things and others and just want/need to learn more, while others have learned the old-school ways and need to be de-programmed, so to speak. Plus, if I taught a class where everyone was an absolute beginner, everyone learns at their own pace anyway.
Teaching a small group might be good, too, but I would still prefer to tailor lesson plans for each person's level of advancement.
