How Membership Lists Work For A Board

Each board has two types of membership lists.

Firstly, there is the Board Membership List. This is a global list and covers all forums on a board that use the Board's Default for their Membership gaining method.

The default is for each forum on a board to use the Board's Membership List.

Then, there is the Forum Membership List. This is specific to a particular forum. A separate membership list for a forum is only created when that forum's security settings are NOT 'Use board's memberlist'.

So, any or every forum on a board can have its own individual membership list. The forum's security settings can be changed so it no longer uses the Board's Membership List (this is normal for restricted access forums). In that case, a Forum Membership List is created.
