posticon Why is my board now allowing me to add myself as a Global Moderator?

O.K. I'm stumped, I'm the owner/administrator of my own forum:

And trying to add myself as a global moderator - I go to the Security management sub menu in the control panel, Go to Global Moderator Management; type my user name in the add Global moderator privileges box and hit the "go" button - Easy enough you would think right?

Well I keep getting this error:

addmoderator: Must contain at most one occurrence of the character " ".

Which makes absolutely ZERO sense to me.

This happens no matter what permission I try to assign myself - Administrator, Global Moderator or Moderator.

Does anybody have an explanation??

Hi Big Blue XK,

The Runboard system only allows for one blank space in a username. If you use Big_Blue_XK, then I think the system will accept it. Visually speaking, the name will look the same on your board.

If I am wrong, a global admin will let both of us know. emoticon

Hi Big Blue,

Runboard used to only allow one space in usernames, so the error is due to the fact that you have more than one space in your name. Thank you for pointing out this bug. I will bring this to Thor's attention.

The message you're supposed to see when you try to add yourself as a moderator is, "This user is already a moderator or better for this board."

Since you, the board owner, already have more powers than a moderator, you don't need to add yourself as a moderator.

I hope this helps!

This is incorrect. I tried it just now, and got the error:

No such user is known.

It helps as far as at least I know why it's happening Lesigner Girl - but it doesn't solve the problem.

I'm a network administrator - I do this stuff for a living and I've never seen software as quirky and un-user friendly as what you folks are using here.

You can create a similar username to the one you now have, and make it a global moderator. I have several accounts that I have as Global Mod, Member, Lurker, etc.

Like Jox said. BigBlue XK isn't taken.

I still don't understand why you want to make your owner account a moderator. If you want to use it for testing purposes, a 2nd (or 3rd or 4th) account is the way to go.

Hi, again Big Blue,

I told you a global or two (or three) would be along soon. emoticon

My apologies for giving you misinformation earlier.

I am a member of several financial institutions that are much more restrictive and downright rude when it comes to user-friendliness. For myself, Runboard seems to be very simple with a couple of simple quirks designed with a users security and privacy protection in mind. Each network is different, and I believe Thor and Lesigner Girl are willing to consider well thought out ideas and suggestions to improve the system and make Runboard a better place.
