Private forum
How do I make a forum private?
I don’t mind if the forum name can be seen as long as I’m the only one who has access.
😊
I thought Boss Lady’s Cabin was set up like that..But apparently it isnt . Nothing real private or personal in there right now,but it’s something I would like😊plz

Re: Private forum
Hi Autumn77,
To make a forum private
Go to:
Control Panel
::
Board management
::
Security management
::
Advanced security settings
When you get there scroll down to the label that says "Finetune ____" (the blank is the forum name).
Now mark the buttons so they read like this...
Then scroll down to the button that says "Change security preferences" and click on it to finish.

Re:
Autumn, it appears that it is set for Everyone to be able to read, but it requires membership to write in there. It is also set to Invite Only.
You just need to change the Read access to Requires membership.

Re: Private forum
Like Susa said, you just need to change your "Read" settings to require membership.
Choosing "Invite-only" for the membership gaining method only means you have to add someone manually to that forum's member list before they are a member of that forum. This says nothing about who can or cannot read or post in that forum. Unless you require membership to read, then people don't need to be a member to read.
You said it doesn't matter to you if people can see the forum name or not, but you can hide it completely under "Arrange forums" by selecting "Hidden if no access" for that forum.

Re:
I just checked your board and you have it set up to Require membership to read and write and no way to gain membership unless you invite them. You also have it set so that no one can see it unless they are a member of that forum. I just went and looked, as a visitor, and I could not see that forum.
You did good!

Re:
Autumn, I looked at your board using a different screen name, to see if I could see that forum as a visitor.
